Applying RD, kind of feel like making my application somewhat funny and sarcastic. Thoughts?

If you actually want to get in, play it safe and don’t. If you’re just doing it for fun, whatever.
If you really want to show off your humor, consider submitting a humorous piece via the external arts supplement.

I’m doing RD aswell, Princeton is my #yolo school. My SAT score is pretty low for them, so I was planning on being a bit out there.
It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one. XD

Why would you apply to Princeton if you don’t think you’re going to get in? Is it worth doing Princeton’s very difficult supplement? Apply to Harvard, whose app is absurdly easy.

I don’t not think I’m going to get in. I already applied to Harvard. My application is decent, I have a fighting chance at least. I’m not saying blow it off, but would an answer like “devilishly handsome and outrageously humble” for the two adjectives ruin me or help? I think it depends on whether these Princeton people have any sort of a sense of humour, and whether they see me as making a mockery or just having fun.

I wouldn’t ‘go sarcastic’; most HS seniors don’t do it well

I agree with BM - parody or satire could possibly be effective but unless you are very accomplished in approaching while not crossing the line, I think it’s best left for another time and place. Other humor styles may work well however so the essay need not be entirely serious. I think the admission people do have a sense of humor but in this case you need to be relatively sure your essays are going to be readily understood and appreciated.

Thanks all, I appreciate the input.
