so what are my chances?
Georgetown (SFS) is my first choice, also considering Harvard, other Ivys, UChicago, Vanderbilt, Berkeley, Stanford, Amherst

I want to major in International Relations with a focus on .... what else? China

Bravo for U!!! haha it's nice for me to see someone (other than asians) who are interested in chinese culture. I will keep my finger crossed for you man all the way.

thanks for the encouragement... b/c i'm really freaked out about this whole college thing

Matilli53:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB: Safe Match

no, i'm in florida....
but i'll definitely consider Berkeley more seriously now

well, not so fast, even though your stats and activities show that you're a match for UCB, you'd only be a sure bet if you were in-state. since you're in florida, out-of-state applicants have a harder time to get into top UC's. if you can really knock em dead on your SAT's, your chances will increase exponentially, and we're talking like 2150+... so good luck with that

as far as stanford goes, write a stellar essay. sounds like the chinese thing is really cool, and they'll eat up anything that sounds personal and near and dear to you. you have 11 months until that is due for you, so take your time and really put your effort into that one

sunkist16:

thanks for the advice... looks like stanford will become my second choice...

SATs are my weakest area, hopefully i'll be able to bring them up... my PSAT improved by 500 points since freshman year... i hope i didnt reach my intellectual limit!

Matilli53:

UCB: Match (out of state)

white person who knows and speaks chinese?

I smell a hook
