Hunter, City College, Stonybrook or Binghamton

Hi Guys! I am a NY resident i have the options of going to these four schools. I am a bio major on the pre med track going to med school. Which school would you recommend for pre med and why?

Either SB or B. Look at the graduation rates for the other two. Also, the housing at H and CC are abysmal.

CC has a 4 year graduation rate of less than 10% and H is not much better.

I think I would pick B because of the better overall experience.

Hello, all these colleges academically are on the same level. (Same reputation) They’re all really great schools! Congratulations! Since they are academically the same we have to look at other factors. Binghamton is geared more towards engineering and business with a slight presence of biology. Stonybrook is a good science school but because it is primarily a science school there aren’t much opportunities for each person. Also, keep in mind that these schools are state schools that are in suburban area. There are not alot of internship and research opportunities there that the Cunys have. I am an admissions counselor at yale and can say that medical schools look for MCAT scores, GPA and most importantly research and work that the urban area is good for. Alot of the graduates from city or hunter have been accepted to Yale, Boston university, Columbia, NYU and other great ivy leagues. These schools have partnered up with big companies in the city that provide great opportunities. I know a student that worked in the New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell because they went to a city school. Take advantage of your nyc resident status. People move to New York because of this! I would recommend either city or hunter. I know that city has a great science department. A recent friend of mine graduated from hunter and went to Harvard medical school! Both city and hunter are academically strong in the sciences. Good luck to you!
