Hunter course registration is upsetting! (Chem major)

Hi, everyone! For those of you are Hunter student, I want to ask, WHY Hunter has so few orgo labs in this coming Fall? It upsets me a lot since I’m a transfer and I’m restricted to register for class later than regular Hunter students. And as so far I’m concerned, there’s no orgo lab available! (They are closed) what a bummer! No seats for transfer student? And it only offers orgo1 in Fall… What should I do to resolute this problem? For the fact that I need least 9 cr of science class at Hunter in order to be considered to get accept into the ore-health program, which is why I’m very frustrated.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks! Xx

I cannot answer your questions directly as it pertains to Hunter College, but have you explored the possibility of taking the Organic Chemistry Class and Lab at another CUNY Institution (John Jay, CCNY, etc.) or another nearby College? Not convenient, but could be an option (if your schedule allows). I do not think this issue is necessarily related to being a transfer student. At most (?) Colleges, the popular courses get filled up quickly and am sure there are non-transfers student who might have missed out on the opportunity to register for one of these classes. Some Colleges give graduating seniors first shots at registering for classes. Often times, Colleges will open an additional section for a course if the demand is high, so you should contact the Chemistry Department to see if this is a posssibility.

Also, have you talk to the Professor(s) about putting you on a waitlist, in the event other students drop the class before the begining of the Fall Term or squeezing in one more student in one of their existing classes?

I agree with psata82, how about applying for an e-permit and then take orgo at say ccny or bmcc–(don’t be surprised BMCC, they have a competitive orgo course.) As a CUNY student, you can take classes anywhere within the CUNY system.
