If you applied RD to Huntsman and would like to get to know the other applicants, post on this thread! Tell us your target language, if Huntsman's your first choice, and whatever else you want us to know.

All of us who applied to Huntsman have put probably more time into this application than any other school. We've scoured the internet for current events. Spent hours writing the Why Penn essay (and debating if we should include massive Huntsman references). And finally submitted all FOUR essays on January 1st. This thread is for all of us to wait it out together....until April 1st.

Me!
My target language is Spanish, and Huntsman is my first choice.
And I very much agree that the Penn application=my life. Not only because Huntsman is by far my top choice, but also because there were so many additional things to write! I used the "massive Huntsman references" you speak of by the way, haha...did you?

Hmm... Assuming that the rarest = the easiest, it would probably be Italian or Hindi.

But then again, you could apply with freaking Sanskrit as your target language and it's still a crapshot =))

I'm also an RD applicant to Huntsman, target language French.
Did everybody put down Wharton as 2nd choice? I put down CAS, but I guess that's extremely uncommon, no?

I applied to Huntsman for Chinese with Wharton as my second choice, though apparently Wharton wants to be ppl's first choice so if you get deferred from Huntsman it's pretty tough to get into wharton (maybe that's a rumor). I haven't seen any RD applicant with Chinese as their target language yet...

^^ that is definitely a rumor...getting rejected by a joint degree is very common and has no bearing whatsoever on your single-degree chance....i got rejected from huntsman and was accepted to wharton ED...

also, chinese i highly highly competitive. just a heads up.

I'm not saying it's impossible to get into Wharton after being rejected from Huntsman, just harder than if you only applied to Wharton. but congrats whaat.

is anyone targeting Chinese?? (hopefully it's not competitive this year crosses fingers)

Haha I'm more fluent in Chinese though...I just never bothered to take the SAT Subject Test. If I get in by some stroke of miracle, I'm going to try taking both languages...

Does anyone know how many people apply to Huntsman? And what the acceptance rate is?

How about Korean? How competitive is that target language. The Huntsman website only shows 4 people that have Korean as their target language, while 50 for Chinese...

Actually, joint-degree and single-degree admissions are entirely separate. Furthermore, admissions statistics about joint degree program deferrals/rejects are not publicized, but applicants have different strengths and, more importantly, the College and Wharton have different criteria for admissions, so it is irrelevant to try to compare.
