So I thought about this today when I was sitting in Chemistry ( it's a really, really boring class), if I don't get into the Huntsman program, is it still possible, and do students, to dual major. I would want one in my business focus and one in a foreign language ( in my case, romance languages). It would just be nice to get into the Huntsman, but if not, I might ( it's still just as hard) get into Wharton.

So if any students have a view on what they have done or what their friends have done, that'd be great!! thanks!!

It’s definitely possible. That’s what I plan to do (if I get in without Huntsman). It just takes longer unless you cram in a bunch of classes and have a lot of AP credits.

I’ll have AP spanish literature and AP spanish language credits when I graduate, and possibly AP french language too. just for more information…

honestly huntsman is bs. “international studies” is a major they MADE UP for the huntsman program. basically, you get your own building (which is nice) and you live on a floor made half up of internationals for a year.
not getting into a huntsman isn’t a big deal, and you’ll have so much more freedom if you don’t. and you can still apply to dual degree and get a legit second degree/major (like IR, not IS)

I know a number of people who are not in Huntsman for one reason or another who are double-majoring Econ/IR. (Please note that Econ and Wharton are NOT the same thing–the Econ department is in the College.)

It’s doable and many have done it. I actually don’t know any who are dual-degree-ing Wharton and IR, but I’m sure there are some. I feel like most students who don’t get into Huntsman but do end up in Wharton (of which there are plenty, so don’t worry) end up not bothering with an IR-type degree–they just take a lot of international business-type classes within Wharton or may major/minor in an area studies-type discipline (Hispanish Studies, etc.) in the College.

For reference, I am a junior at Penn in the Huntsman Program.

Okay, now that I got scores back, I really doubt I’m going to be accepted to the Huntsman program, Wharton or the college. But thank you shallarock for the comments :)
