Uhm… following tradition… haha I think every year theres a thread for hunstman applicants… lets just start this year’s thread…

i'm applying, and ready for a deferral, if not rejection...:)

well.. me too... I hope to get in.. if not at least to wharton... but uner early!!! I really dont wanna wait until april to hear a decision

Yea, I doubt I'll get in especially since I'm applying RD. Even if I got in, I don't know if I would go there. I'd much rather go to Gtown SFS, Tufts, or Columbia because of the focus on international politics rather than business.

I am too applying RD.
So what have you all thought about Target Language. I am ticking Hindi.

mandarin's my mother tongue

Spanish is mother language... so I will target in that... but Ill take also the french SAT 2 test and uhmmm maybe ill target on that.. I dont know... the thing is that in now way I'll get 700's on it....

I took Spanish in high school and am currently learning French. I plan on learning German and Italian in addition to those.

wow 4 foreign languages? that's beastly...

I know.. wow.. at least ur applying RD haha

Dude, I PLAN on learning them. I don't know them now. I hope to pretty fluent in Spanish and French by college graduation, and then begin to learn Italian (Shouldn't be hard after Spanish and French), and then German. Those would be as an adult with a job.

I am applying Early Decision. Have you finished your app?!?!?

I'll be eying Hindi as my target language but I guess my question would be, would we have to know how to write it and read it in addition to speaking the language since Hindi has no appropriate SAT II that I would be able to take??

How much weight do you think the Huntsman essay receives in making a decision?

about the whole targeting your mother language...

i WAS applyin to huntsman so i researched this...
huntsman strongly discourages you targeting mother language (i personally wanted to target Russian since i'm Russian) because they want you to learn a new language...

trust me i also thought i was gonna be hardcore and target a language i'm amazing at until they popped my bubble.. basically the bottom line is the language is NOT what gets you in

sorry guys

why doesn't everyone who is applying ed write their msn or aim sns so we can all chat it up?

my msn is jkwak_@hotmail.com

I haven't really decided on whether I'm appying or not. If I apply to Penn, it'll be RD and either to Huntsman or the Jerome Fisher program.

I am doubtful about some things though, even though I'm Indian, Hindi is a second language for me. I've been raised in English. Would I be disqualified from applying with Hindi then?

christina011889

true...but they also said there are people who targeted their native languaged and did that successfully :P

Would I be disqualified from applying with Hindi then?

You can target any language including your native language although they recommend that applicants should target a language other then their native language. You will have to prove proficiency in you target language but since we don't have SAT IIs in Hindi, applicants shortlisted will have to give an oral test in March.

During the Wharton information session, the Wharton information advisor told these assumptions.

Is it true?

SAT numbers drives Wharton admission. They love higher SAT1 and SAT II scores.

Wharton program loves student who has taken math courses beyond AP BC Calculus. Great AP scores (hard APs) helps a lot, as admission is number driven

For Huntsman program political/cultural involvement is a big plus.
