I’m working on the app right now.

deferred (10)

i'm writing my essay this evening - still confused about how personal it has to be. :(

A good friend of mine got into Huntsman ED, and she's from Canada.

mind sharing the stats and ECs?

Well, since she doesn't go to the same school as I do, I don't really know her stats and ECs (plus she's out of town on vacation right now). I wonder if she's actualy a CCer who lurks around on this forum.

I might be wrong, but when I looked on their website, it seemed like there were more international students than US ones. Is that actually true?

Hmmm, is a 750 on your target language SAT II (Chinese) low for the Huntsman pool?

If you're applying to Huntsman, post stats!

only significant ECs are quizbowl, model congress and model UN, ballroom dancing, tennis, history club, and the usual NHS, NSHS
I had an internship at JHU this summer and just finished a free math course there.

selected language was mandarin, i examined china vs. taiwan, it's a secret, until i submit :-D your scores are crazy, i have to admit. i guess significant ECs are pres. of tabletennis, young democrats, and math honor society

"I might be wrong, but when I looked on their website, it seemed like there were more international students than US ones. Is that actually true?"

no, look here: http://www.upenn.edu/huntsman/students/demographics.html

53 have been international students, while 137 have been US ones.

Most represented languages are French, Chinese and Spanish. Do you think that an applicant with Hindi as his language would be more competitive since fewer people speak Hindi?

Oh... Maybe I should rather settle for German instead of French. Seems a lot rarer.

just depends. mandarin is just more widely spoken than a lot of languages, and china's economy is the hottest around right now, so it would make more sense to accept more mandarin candidates. i think it just depends on individual merit

what distinguishes huntsman apps. anyway? the essay? extracurrics?

yup, extra essay. And Huntsman applicants must have completed a year of calculus.

"have" completed? as in...before they submit the app? i don't think so, isn't it before you matriculate?

yeah - I meant matriculate, sorry

jeez, scared the poop outta me. hey anyone wanna read my hunts essay now that its submitted? i think its pretty awesome
