@Alcaraz Well I met the person who is currently targeting Hindi when I stayed overnight at the Huntsman Program. She said she targeted it cause she loved the language and the culture. And she spent a great deal of time in India with a host family as part of this program in her school in New York. So don’t just do Hindi because you want to increase your chances of admissions. That’s frivolous. Go for a target language you’re proficient in. You don’t want to come in and get lost. My native language is French and my target language is still French. My sister also targeted French when she attended Huntsman (Class of 2010). You just get put in more advanced classes right away which is actually better if you think about it. And when I was staying overnight, I attended one of those advanced classes (I think it was like 204) and it was very engaging and innovative. From the Huntsman students -whom I met- themselves, go for a language you love and know you are proficient in.

There’s only one person targeting Korean too and he’s targeting Japanese as well.
My Korean might even be better than my Hindi and I have shown more interest in it. (Self-studied Korean, lived in Korea by myself, and now I tutor Korean, while I quit Indian school at the age of 7.) I talked to current students when I visited and they said that it was important to show passion for your target language so thats why I targeted Korean. I worked really hard to become fluent in Korean and I wonder if I’ll be able to put in the same amount of effort to learn other languages along with the added pressures of college.

Definitely agree with you mate … Was just suggesting different options since saesaeh seems to be proficient in a number of different languages but definitely the defining factor should be whether they enjoy the language or not

Hi guys! Has anyone received a tape yet?

Also, are tapes for everyone, or are they only for the people whose target language does not have an sat 2 test?

for wat language?

wow … never knew about this community of Huntsman applicants…

I’m from Korea, aiming at the 7~8 spots in the International/Male section.

I’m targeting French by the way :)

@happyholiday what are tapes?

are there any hindi tracks applying… like at all?

ok so I looked up what the tapes are, and people usually get them around 15 days before the decision, but they’re only sent to “qualified” applicants. So does this mean I’m out since I haven’t gotten one? Has anyone else heard of this? (the thread I read this info from was really old). I sent them my Korean SATII score but it was pretty bad (770). It was super easy so I could have gotten an 800 but I ran out of time.

Hi first time poster here!
@saesaeah I looked through the huntsman website again and it doesn’t say anything about a tape (at least, I couldn’t find anything) so hopefully they don’t do tapes anymore…because I didn’t get one :(

ok phew. what language are you targeting?

sorry its a snow day and stalking this thread is better than writing college essays

haha word.
I’m targeting Chinese, but if I somehow miraculously get accepted, I might switch to Korean.

Yeah I don’t think they would send tapes haha. And “qualified”? Come on

@thecooltrain ok this is going to sound really weird… but did you do nsliy by any chance?

everyone here got an interview? and what are tapes?

@saesaeah …yes haha, do you know me?

@shruthinr yea i got one… tapes are not rlly used anymore… depends on ur target language… what langue are you targeting?

Hey, I applied ED to Huntsman with Hindi as my target language. Did anyone get tapes for languages without SAT2s? I haven’t received anything like that yet.
