Huntsman class of 2018 ed thread

nope… what does ur app look like? ecs and sats and stuff?

not rlly…

My SAT is 2250 and I got a 35 on my ACT. My GPA is a 4.0 and my target language is Hindi.

Im taking 7 APs this year (BC Calc, French, Stat, Eco, Gov, Lit, and Physics C). Im really nervous because I feel like my grades are normal and nothing special, especially for Huntsman which has been my dream since 10th grade!

I think my ECs hopefully set me apart:

 1. I started the Kids For Kids NonProfit Foundation 5 years ago and have currently raised a $100,000 plus to aid underprivileged kids in India suffering from near fatal injuries who cannot afford treatment.

2) I researched at New York University for three summers and created two patented products and currently published two journal articles on my products (My first product is a nano-filtration membrane that can filter out 99.9% of pathogens and create clean drinking water. My second is a new biopolymer aimed to replace plastic water bottles that uses nano-membranes to strengthen the plastic rather than petroleum based chemicals and it is fully biodegradable. So essentially, there would be no more worry of BPA leaking into your water and plastic building up in garbage dumps.)

3) I have been volunteering at a local Hindi school every Sunday, running classes on Hindi culture and language for 5-7 year olds. Have put in 200 plus hours

4) I am the president of the grade and president of the Model UN club in my school and the French Honor Society (and on the board for a bunch of other ones)

5) I have my private pilots license (random, ik) and my scuba diving license

6) I am the Captain of my Varsity Track and Field team

7) I wrote an Indian food cookbook. I love cooking and I wrote a book that took traditional Indian vegetarian recipes and reinvented them for the American palate.

In my essays I tried to show my connection to my culture and language. I spoke about my mission to create products and charities to help those in the slums of India. I focused on my urge to create businesses from my products and hopefully help eradicate the growing slum epidemic in India.

I wish luck to all of us and I am soooooo nervous for Monday. I truly hope we all get in!

lol. why? I think my stats are too low :frowning: Are u applying ED to UPENN also? I wish u luck bro.

Thank you dude. The Huntsman program is basically awesome because you get 2 degrees in 4 years and its like perfectly tailored for anyone that wants to do international business. But is soo competitive. And @rodrigo9, dont worry bro. I feel like there are a 100 people that are way better than us! And its so unpredictable so you really never know.

ehh… it is what it is… im surprised you havent cured cancer yet…

Best of luck to you all! I applied RD Huntsman… Keeping my options open, but it’s my first choice right now.
Reading this thread makes me really nervous, and I have to wait until April! I can only imagine how you all feel.

Hello anxious high schoolers,
The Huntsman Class of 2017 would like to wish you all the best of luck tomorrow. As you spend the rest of today freaking out, try to keep in mind that all will be well and that college decisions aren’t the end of the world.

Congratulations in advance to the future class of 2018; we look forward to meeting you soon(:

-ISB Students of 2017

Did any of y’all get in? I’ve been deferred

Deferred!
I’m not sure if I’m deferred from Huntsman or Wharton… haha

Did anyone get rejected from Penn entirely, even though they marked a single-degree school for RD? I didn’t even know that was possible

@guccigirl it depends on whether you applied rd or ed for your second choice school. @alakazam356 I think you were rejected from the huntsman but will still be considered for your single degree rd choice

:/ Hopefully that’s it. I’ll check in a few days once the applicant portal goes back and see if I’m still listed

Hey I was accepted to CAS but it doesn’t say if or if not I was accepted to Huntsman–I’m assuming that means rejected from Huntsman? Let me know if this applies to any of you as well! Either way, thrilled for getting in to Penn!

I applied to Huntsman, with Wharton as the “backup,” as a Spanish target. Got deferred.

I got in!!

I. Got. In. :D

@Carbajalia did you get deferred from Huntsman or from Wharton? Congrats to all!

also @pennpug what language did you get in for?

I’m not sure. I assumed it was from Wharton, but it doesn’t say definitively anywhere on the portal. Now it’s time for the HYPS apps to begin, hah.

Do you guys think that applying as a Portugues target, even though you have only taken Spanish, instead of as a Spanish target would help one in the admission process?
