I got a letter today (dated feb 25) saying that theyve mailed my proficiency test to my hs counselor…anyone else get one?
ED People, what are the tests like (mine is in French)?

exciting-this is thefirst mail Ive gotten in several weeks from a school i actually applied to :)

DNY: I dont know. I think most of the ed applicants that got a test got in (with the exception of at least one (I think zirkon got a test but didn't get in, I dont know what language)), but I dont know if its different for RD. Catch is def the person to ask this cuz I think he called the admissions office and asked about the test (correct me catch if I'm wrong)...

I guess well see in April/March 31. Iam hoping like crazy ill get in cuz I've just been imagining myself in april with 5 rejection letters, and this is cross my fingers really umm, uplifting?

Catch-22: did you call the admissions office and talk to them about these tests that they send out? that would be so amazing if Penn actually wanted me... I kind of wrote the Huntsman off because of my 690 IIC score... everything else in my app is really great, but i thought that 690 would just kill me

catch is a girl......the tests are essentialy a likely letter (dont get too hyped yet tho)....when i got mine, i ran around the resort i was at (in mexico) like a wild man lol.....and by the way DNY, they let a few bad scores slide, they arent THAT picky

Yes. I'm a girl (thanks leo for mentioning that). The tests are supposed to be "placement tests" for language classes...so, essentially, you are "almost" in, as long as you can prove proficiency in your designated language. Everyone of their "expected" candidates will get a test. So, yea, if you are officially "in" the running, you will get a test. Best of luck.

PS: I did call the Huntsman office and spoke to the Huntsman Director, I'll tell you guys what she told me. "Relax, and just do your best on the language test. Prove to us that you deserve to be in the program. And don't sweat it, it's just basic stuff."

What if you selected your native language (Spanish) as your desired second language and have scored really high on tests (AP and SAT II)? Will they still send you a test?

for anyone who is wondering about the test,
I got an 800 on the German SAT II, a 5 on the AP exam, and a 7 on the IB exam and I still got the test...

HAHA. It's okay Alita. Good job with getting the test, hope to see you at Huntsman the coming school year (as well as with everyone else). :)
They should be "in the process of being mailed"...expect them to be within this week. Good luck.

yeah, i live relatively near penn so dont sweat it if you havent gotten it, esp. w/ all of the snow stuff around here. you never know w/ the mail...

hey i got the test but my language was arabic.. i speak it but im pretty bad at reading and writing (i guess i better cram for this), anyways, although probably very rare did anyone else chose arabic or does anyone know what the test is like?

anyone know the deadline to mail it back in?

yeah I actually am gonna do arabic but since my language abilities are not good enough right now (2nd semester university arabic) I told them I would enter with french and switch to arabic. I think that probably helped w/ admissions if I get in.
