I was browsing through the forums and I found that last year’s Huntsman ED-er’s received their tests a little before Thanksgiving.

One applicant said that he received an e-mail from Ms. Inge Herman (the program director) on 11/23. However, some of the other applicants didn’t receive an e-mail, but then got the test.

Does anyone know when the tests should be sent to (or arrive at) the guidance counselor’s office? And if we will be receiving prior notification beforehand from Huntsman?

Sorry, now that I try to look for it again, I can't seem to find it. -_-"

(There's 9 pages of threads with the word "huntsman" in them.)

But from what I remember, the test has multiple choice, writing, and speaking portions. The test is sent to your guidance counselor, but you get either an e-mail/mail saying that your counselor is going to receive the test.

"Applicants should take the SAT II Subject Test in their target language.

The Huntsman Program has developed its own language tests for Arabic, Hindi and Russian. Arrangements are made for qualified applicants to take these tests.

Tape-mediated oral proficiency tests are also required and will be sent to qualified applicants. "

From the huntsman site..

so does that mean that they only send the oral proficiency tests to kids who they feel are qualified.. aka the kids who make it past some sort of 'first screening' ?

If you receive the test, you are basically in. The proficiency test is more like a placement exam. The only way to not get in after taking the test is if you bomb it, proving that you are NOT proficient in the language.

So a test = (VERY) likely letter.

Note: I think ALL of the current Huntsman students have taken this test, with one (maybe more) exception(s). I think one girl didn't receive the test because she did extremely well on her IB test, which is a lot more comprehensive than the SAT/AP.
