Huntsman Program- Stats for current students/accepted students?

it’s always been a dream of mine to go to upenn since i was in 6th grade. i’m currently a sophomore in high school and looking to study business when i go to college. then someone told me about the huntsmans program, so i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what their stats were in high school if they got accepted into this program or if they might know where i could find them. thanks!

Hey, i will be a freshman on the huntsman program next semester.
My stats were:

SAT: M 790, CR 700, W: 660
SAT 2: Physics 750, Spanish 790, Math 2c 740
IB Bilingual Diploma - 38 points
My school doesn`t rank or calculate gpa, but grades were in general good.

Very good reccomendations and essays.

Be sure to visit the campus and stop by the program's building, which is right in front of Huntsman Hall. That way you will learn more about the program and also get to know the admissions officer.

Good luck!

thanks so much kristian_rj!

anyone else?

What kind of extracurriculars did you have?

What I've been told (I won't be applying Huntsman b/c of the language reqs but...) pour your HEART out into that essay. And be awesome all around. But the essay is crucial. I'm sorry I can't define the awesomeness because I'm not a Huntsman kid.

Here are my stats:
Sat: M:800 V:780 W: 780
SAT II: Math IIC: 780 Chinese w/ listening: 800 Bio: 720
(I am not chinese)
GPA: 3.9 at Fieldston ranked # 15 private school in the nation 30% ivy acceptance rate. valedictorian

Nearly Fluent in Chinese as I have just spent a year at SYA China (recieved full merit based scholarship to attend)

Very good reccomendations

ECs:
3 sport varsity athlete: soccer, swimming, tennis
Junior year abroad in China
Just one of two students to recieve full merit based scholarship out of 110
New York State documentary history fair winner, 10th place at nationals
Model UN USA-UNA highest award --Best Delegate--
Attended Wharton Leadership in the Business world summer program

So what do you think? Can i get in to huntsman or not? Let me know what i should improve if not

Oh yea and just for clarification my school gives GPA out of 4.0, no bonus for honors courses although i have taken the most rigorous course load possible.

I'd say you have a good shot at it.

Thanks man. Do you know anyone in the program?

Not specifically, but I've asked around for Huntsman program stats too (I failed to get into it this year for Korean - didn't even take an SAT II as I didn't know I was supposed to... haha) and you're very competitive, imo.

So did you get any general feel for what they're looking for. So far i've heard just great essays and a rediculous amount of passion. Anything else you've noticed?

Aside from passion and great essays, GPA and SAT are very important. you also need to take calculus(I think they prefer BC)

Whats the deal with APs? How important are they and how many should you have?

One thing to keep in mind...the Huntsman Program is extremely competitive...I dreamt about being a Huntsmanite but competition is keen. Are you going to LBW this summer?

no last summer. I thought it was only for rising seniors. That does help my chances though doesnt it?

wow your stats are amazing. and 800 chinese when youre not a chinese yourself? ni hao li hai! wo hen pei fu ni.

huntsman is such a .. well.. mysterious program to me and im trying my best to gather information about it too.
and you're the second person at CC that i dont wanna see me compete against.

if i had to say something about your brilliant stats, it'll be to do something more business related? im an 07 applying to huntsman just like you, so i virtually know no insider tips, but hope that helps...

again, good luck to both of us!

thanks man. What do you have in the business related area?

wait, how did you get to go to LBW last summer already? If you're a rising senior, shouldn't you be going this summer and applying to Huntsman this fall? I'm so confused...

oh sorry attendING LBW this summer.

some high school entrepreneurers are already earning livings for themselves (im not one of them, unfortunately)
some participate in econ/business competitions
some take on leadership roles that are sort of money related (like a treasurer of a club, student gov. etc)

but unlike science fields where peole can apply and research with college professors and whatnot, opportunities to be exposed to business are reeeally rare for high school students, and i think colleges know that, and should take that in account, too.

but i think its best to just check out what other huntsman people had on their apps...which is why you have this thread. so good job :)

btw im a girl :)
