Huntsman Program?

Wondering if anyone has been currently or previously accepted into the Huntsman Program? I want to do Wharton, currently a junior in high school and looking into UPenn for college. I’m wondering if I can apply for Huntsman and if I don’t get in I can opt to do just Wharton? I ask this because I understand how Huntsman is even more selective than Wharton, and while Huntsman would be a great opportunity for me I’d be thrilled to do Wharton.

Also, anyone can share experiences/stats/essays who were accepted into Wharton/Huntsman, feel free to PM me, I really want to know how the admission experience is.

yes, when you apply you have the option. If you don't get into Huntsman, you still have a chance of getting into just Wharton.

So on the application under course of study desired I choose "Dual-Degree Program" and put in the Huntsman code, and if I'm not accepted into Huntsman I'll still have a shot at Wharton?

yep exactly.

Sounds good. Anyone around here accepted to Huntsman?

I don't recall anyone on CC being accepted to Huntsman. I think a lot of us got waitlisted.

dostoyevsky

did it say in ur decision letter whether you were admitted/rejected/waitlisted from huntsman?

i was waitlisted and since Huntsman is so competitive - it doesn't have a waitlist - I called up my regional admissions officer who confirmed that I'd been waitlisted for Wharton.
If you're rejected for Huntsman, then you would have been considered for which ever school (CAS or Wharton) you chose.
If you're accepted, then I guess the general decision online doesn't reveal anything but the mailed package may confirm whether you got in or not...I'm not really sure about this

i didn't apply for huntsman but i did apply for another joint-degree program. You're right in that the online decision didn't say anything about anything except for your decision to UPenn in general. But my mail package didn't say anything about my joint-degree program decision either and that's where I'm confused.

If you're admitted to huntsman, your online letters (the exact of which, will be mailed to you) consist of one from CAS and one from Wharton and then a general admissions letter. I think. It was a long time ago..:X

I applied for a joint-degree program (Vagelos LSM) and my online decision DID mention specifically that I was admitted into the program. And it was only one letter. I don't remember what the package says. It's downstairs and I'm not willing to get it.

so if my online decision didn't say anything about my joint-degree program decision, it probably means i was rejected?

Call the admissions office tomorrow to clarify.

yeah, i plan to. thanks.

for the target language, does Penn expect it to be at least 780ish? or pretty high?

-for me it would probably be chinese

do you need to have completed calculus by senior year to be considered for huntsman, what if you can't take it?

btw, I called today and they said if the joint-degree program wasn't mentioned in the decision letter, then it means you didn't get in.

cecils15, it's the same as with Wharton.
You have to indicate whether you'll have fulfilled the equivalent of one semester college calculus prior to your enrollment (I think this is especially for international applicants, who don't have AP Calculus BC or stuff like that)

If you don't have completed calculus prior to your enrollment, this would probably put you at a disadvantage. But I advise you to ask an admission officer what you could do to ameliorate your situation.

Are you an applicant for the Huntsman Class of 2012? I am, pm me, it would be cool to know each other a little bit before we'll actually come together in fall 2008! :D :D :D (not that i have the slightest chance whatsoever)
