just curious, but how exactly does the program judge your proficiency in a language? is it through the SAT's or do they have a certain test for incoming applicants? this is because i've studied chinese for all my life and am learning italian now[just started...] for the IB diploma, and im not sure if i should how will they judge your language proficiency since i have a really screwed up grade for the final examinations in chinese because i was sick....

Hmm, I guess a combination of everything? They do somtimes give a language test for applicants if they haven’t taken the SAT IIs. As for your Chinese final, usually the counsellor recommendations are supposed to include any information of why certain grades aren’t that good if anything drastic has happened. Your classes and your grades in them are a pretty strong indication of your proficiency as well.

It does say on the Huntsman page that they measure your ability to speak in the language by the SAT-II Subject Exam or an internal exam if there is none. So for your case (Chinese), I’d recommend taking the SAT-II Subject Exam in Chinese (if you haven’t…you’ve missed it already).
