Huntsmannnnnn

I have a bunch of questions about the Huntsman program.

First of all... you need to be fluent in a language to get in? Or proficient? What counts as proficient? I have a 770 on the French SAT II and a 4 on the AP exam... would that be good enough?

What else is Huntsman looking for in a student?

Now, regarding ED. I'm SURE I would LOVE Huntsman, but I know the chances are slim to none that I'll get in. So, say I apply to Huntsman ED. If I get deferred, do they consider my application for Wharton in general after the deferral?... I think I heard this somewhere. Is it true?

Thanks!

1) I believe you need to be basically fluent in your target language. Plan to study it further at Penn, but all of the Huntsman folks I know were rock solid in their target language before college.

2) This has been answered many times before. You can specify (following an ED deferral) whether to be considered for Wharton or College ED or considered again for Huntsman at RD time. (Either way they'll consider you for the backup/single degree option if you're not accepted into the joint degree program). I should note that I don't know anyone at Penn who decided to come here (and got accepted) for a single degree program after getting rejected from dual degrees. YMMV.

In response to MattWonder, I do know someone who got rejected huntsman but accepted single degree and she chose to come. Just to let la montage know that it IS possible to get in...they admission office really does mean they will consider your app separately...

Sure is a beautiful building!!

Could anyone from the Huntsman program tell me what it's like? I've read up on it, but I want to see it from a more personal perspective...

Ha, this isn't exactly the place to get real advice from actual Penn students. I think I can count the number of us on one hand.

if you email the huntsman program people i'm sure they'd be happy to put you in contact with students who can testify to their experiences in the program.
