Hurricane Sandy EA/ED deadline extensions (common app)

Is the common app going to reflect the changes in deadlines for schools on the east coast? If not, will we still be able to submit to these school EA/ED after the 1st?

The deadlines displayed in the online system are fixed and will not be updated to reflect rapidly changing developments. Nonetheless, most colleges with November 1 deadlines have extended those deadlines and have communicated this information directly to applicants. The Common App system will permit applications to be submitted through the revised deadlines designated by the colleges.

Sorry if this question is naive, but is the extended deadline only for those affected by the storm? I live on the West Coast, and I don’t want to be penalized for applying after Nov 1st to Stanford, which has a stated deadline of Nov 5.

Darthpwner-
I’d get the application in by the original deadline if I were you.

I believe Harvard said to include a note regarding your late filing. If you are not in an affected area, I don’t think it would look good to Harvard. I’m guessing other schools are the same.
