Husband will lose current salary/ job in September

I/we have filed fafsa . Word came end of lastweek husband/Dad will lose job in SeptembER .Is there extra paperwork that can be filled out to explain this? Do we write letters ? Any input..tHANKS

we experienced this my D freshman year.( after 9/11)
The difference was we didn't have 7 months warning to preplan.
We did have some savings built up for emergencies- but not as much as we should have.:(
She also had already started at her college- we didn't have a chance to warn colleges, so we could compare if the different finaid offers would change.

So...assuming you have strategy to manage change in finances, starting yesterday, by cutting expenses, and finding alternate income * another job*,I would call the colleges directly and send a letter as well. You might ask for what their strategy will be once the income is actually reduced as it will help plan for which college is most affordable.

It isn't going to change your current EFC, as that is determined by * last years* income, but depending on the school, they may adjust the students package, once the drop in income actually occurs.

(Ds college wasnt her ED school- they met 100%of need, with grants, subsidized loans and work study. After 9/11 we alerted school, when pay stub actually showed reduced income and he had received pink slip, we sent them a copy of that. Then they increased the grant to something more affordable.)
