Hutton Honors College Question

so...I was on Hutton's website and I read the following:

By Invitation/Application: Admission to the Hutton Honors College is by application. Students admitted to IU-Bloomington by April 1, 2009 will be selected to apply, based on a combination of performance on standardized test scores, high school academic record, evidence of creativity and leadership, and demonstrated interest in participating in the HHC curriculum and community. No one factor alone is sufficient for selection.

Students will know if they have been invited to apply if they receive a letter from the Hutton Honors College.

No big deal since it isn't even close to April 1st, but as I read on, I noticed the petition section which said,

By Petition: If you are not selected to apply to the Hutton Honors College, you may petition for admission to our program...Please send the following materials to us as soon as possible but no later than MARCH 1ST of your high school senior year.

so whats is going on??

I applied on 1/11, and was accepted 2/4. Was I not invited to apply for Hutton? Since I highly doubt I can get a recommendation letter from a teacher within basically three days (I am going to be out of town from thursday-sunday for an MUN conference UGH), what should I do in regards to sending in a petition?

Well it certainly doesn't sound like you would be able to make the deadline. Give the director of HHC Admissions a call, her name is Jill Baker and she is an absolute sweetheart. See what you can do.
