<p>Last year, my son applied for the Hutton Honor Scholarship. He was top 10%, 31 ACT, and a 3.96. He didn't get anything from Hutton. Be thankful for the $1K. It'll pay for books and maybe a couple of pizzas!</p>

<p>yea...do u remember about when he recieved 2k from Kelley? like about now or like april -ish? I still have not heard from kelley scholarships......2k would be great. Do u know the name of the kelley scholarship? (I know ppl r automatically considered for them)</p>
<p>He actually didn't hear about it until late July or early August, and I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. If you look at the website, you will see a long list of scholarships for which they automatically consider Kelley students. Every little bit helps!</p>

<p>A $1,000 scholarship from Hutton is nothing to complain about. Hutton scholarships are very competitive. The Metz Scholars Program, Hutton's most prestigious program, only admits 5-7 prospective freshmen annually and only awards recipients $6,000. As a recipient of the Metz, I can say that statistically the Metz scholars had on average an SAT of 1480ish, graduated in the top 1-2% of their class, two of us five were valedictorians. However, any scholarship from Hutton is something to be proud of. Just PM me if you need any more information about Hutton, or in general.</p>

<p>Hoosier....do most ppl keep their scholarship thru out the 4 yrs? it seems like it's pretty hard to maintain a 3.4 GPA. Also, how big r the class sizes for Hutton...like the ones ppl have to take 3 over the course of 4 sem. </p>

<p>JK- it depends on when you applied because IU is on rolling admissions. My friend and I both applied, she a few weeks before me, so she got her invitation to Hutton a few weeks before I did, her application due date was a few weeks before mine, and she was notified of her scholarship a few weeks before me as well if you didn't catch on. I turned my application in late November or early December and was notified of the scholarship amount today actually, to give you a time frame.</p>
<p>Zouman- I got $2000 from Hutton and $8000 for the automatic scholarship. My stats were SAT 2070 (1390) GPA 3.95UW 4.4?W top 3%. I don't think stats were the KEY factor, though, because the application letter emphasized how important the essay was for scholarship consideration. But then again, I applied for Huttons when I did NOT want to go to IU (my dad forced me to do it) and turned in an opinion piece that I previously wrote for my school newspaper, which did not adhere to the criteria of the well-argued, objective essay they wanted at all. So who knows.</p>
<p>I would recommend scouring the IU scholarships website because there are a lot that you have to apply for that aren't really mentioned. If you have a bank account see if your bank has scholarships, a lot do. Mine has one for $800 that I'm pretty confident about because the bank is with my dad's work so I don't think there will be a lot of other applicants. Hope it all works out for you! I'm guessing you're out of state since your parents want you to go to Wisconsin. If I don't go to IU we can switch identities so you can have $10,000 and pay instate tuition.</p>

The scholarship is renewable over four years, and a 3.4 GPA is required. I have not found it difficult to maintain a GPA over 3.4. As a far as the honors classes go, they vary greatly. But in the two that I have taken so far there were 14-18 students. I</p>

To the best of my knowledge, the Metz scholarship amount was reduced this year, because the automatic scholarship amount was increased from $5,000 to $8,000. I think that Hutton wants to expand the Metz Scholar class of '12 to 10-15 students, so they are offering less money to more students.</p>
<p>I received a letter today saying that I was awarded the Cecil and Inez Harlos Scholarship for $4,000/yr. This is in addition to the $8000 automatic scholarship. My stats: SAT 2130 (1430), GPA 4.0 UW, Class Rank 1.</p>
<p>I'm not sure how this compares to the Metz Scholarship, but I am pleased either way.</p>

<p>I'm sure revolcgirl was joking, but this would make for an interesting movie. Let's see, revolcgirl will be going to Wisconsin but officially getting a degree from Indiana University while JKJKJK09 would be going to Indiana University but officially getting a degree from the University of Wisconsin. Any jobs they apply to would require that they send the transcripts from the other school--or else they would apply as the other person--meaning they would then have to work at the place as the other person--and pay taxes on the other person's behalf. Either that or they have to travel 300 miles to interview and hope they don't get asked for their student ID while in the career placement office. </p>
<p>And what is the motivation for doing well in the classroom?--Since everything you are doing is in the other person's name, you have to do well only so your counterpart also does well on your behalf. But what if there is a class where you just can't "cut it"--does that mean your counterpart will fail a class on purpose to get even? And what about meeting a member of the other gender?--you can't show them your driver's license--since it doesn't have your name--and you can't take them home to the parents since they have different names than yours. Oh, and how do you handle paying the tuition?--Can't have the parents pay unless they think you are really at the other school--so how do you explain meeting your boyfriend/girlfriend in class at a school 300 miles away. And getting home will take a bit longer than they think it will, since they think you are at the local school. And what do you do if the parents (or a sister/brother) decide they want to visit you?</p>
<p>Lastly, what do you do if each one wants to major in something different. If one wants art and the other engineering, then taking classes in the other person's interests could be a REAL problem.</p>
