HYP chances

My D will be applying to several LAC's (actively being recruited athetlically); I'm interested in what this forum thinks about her chances for HYP, thanks in advance.

GPA: 98.6 (weighting doesn't really affect her, most rigorous course load)
SAT I: 800 CR, 750 M, 770 W
SAT II: Chem 790, US History 790
School doesn't rank, but presumably somewhere in top 5 out 400
Anticipate very strong recommendations

AP: Euro Hist, US History, Chem, Language and Comp= all 5
AP this year: Calc B/C, Psych, Government, French, Literature
Received "A " from Ivy summer program in Microbiology/Genetics

Awards: Dartmouth Book, Cal Tech Book, American Assn of University Women
Science Olympiads, 3rd regionally, 7th in state

EC:
President, National Honor Society
President, French Honors Society
Captain Track team (4 years, all county)
Captain JV Soccer
We the People
200+ hours community service
Tri M music honor soc
Orchestra, Chamber, Pit Orchestra (all Long Island selection) 4 years
Science Research Program at major university
Spent summer working as counselor at camp for underprivileged kids
other EC's, but you get the picture

She is very happy with the schools she is in contact with (2 LAC's in Mass and one Ivy), but a curious parent would be interested if the time would be well spent applying to HYP.
Regards

If the coaches are interested she’s a shoo in. If not, she’s an average candidate and we’d need much more details on ECs to really render an opinion.

Once again, thanks for responding

The bottom line is that if she’s white/Asian for LI, not the val, no hook and with no EC that sounds exceptional, HYP would be pretty tough. It certainly happens. A phenomenal application could make a difference, but that’s one crowded pool.

This is not an exceptional application?!? What would make it exceptional? Aren’t the athletics a HOOK? What more do these schools want?

thanks for the reality check. She may very well be val, don’t like to talk of the things that aren’t certain yet. Last three vals from her school went to H and Y, about 4 others from each class as well.
I appreciate your time.

The sport, if recruited, would be a hook.

When looking at who went, make sure to adjust for legacies, which you’re likely to find at a good LI high school.

The real admission rate for the unhooked/untipped at these schools is under 4% IMO.

Thanks again; this is more for my benefit than hers. She is thrilled with the opportunities being presented to her thus far. Going to be an exciting, expensive ride.
