Hypothetical: Applying Early Decision to 2 schools?

Could a student apply Early Decision to two schools?

To explain, suppose they apply ED to somewhere like Columbia, whose notification date is December 15th. They are deferred or rejected. Can the same student now apply to somewhere that has an ED II program, like Harvey Mudd?

Sure. As long as you don’t have any conflicting contractual obligations at any time, why would anyone care?

Bob, this was asked and answered earlier this week in this very forum. See here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1219438-possible-early-desicion-2-schools.html.

Yes you can. However, if you a deferred from Columbia and then apply EDII to Harvey Mudd and get accepted, you will forfeit the chance of getting accepted to Columbia in the RD pool.

Well if a deadline is after Dec 15, that’s not really early anymore…

Many colleges and universities have an ED 2 round with a deadline after 12/15.
