I am in high school right now, the system is flawed, people take advantage of this. AP classes are meant to be tough and it is improbable to get A’s on all them, especially when your taking 4. Teacher let you take the test booklet home to do test corrections so they don’t waste time. Some kids take pictures of the booklet to study for review, but when they are done with the class, they give it to a kid below their grade so they can “review” before they even take the test. The tests are always the same. My friends have been collecting this year for next year. They want a small group of close friends to help each other out, its a group of 3. All the papers have been labeled with their names so they can trust each other to not give it out to other people. They already added me because the 3 of us have been friends from literally kindergarten. I can’t snitch them out, we have been through a lot. None of us are dumb, we are very smart, we never cheated like this before, we are going to be seniors next year, our GPA’s already are good enough to get into the schools we want and we have been taking AP classes. They said they wanted to make sure the A’s dont got to B’s or even B+'s and they want to get big scholorships…(my parents are not rich enough for college, nor poor enough for financial aid) but yea, the risks are at a minimum but the results are so high, logically speaking, its good if I participate, but its a matter of ethics…
Hypothetical Situation:My Friends Have the Answers to All the Tests, They Want Me to be a Part of it
HelpMe22, I know you were freaked out on the other thread that you posted, but people have posted threads on cheating before. But don’t be surprised if people are harsh with their responses - b/c it is cheating and it is wrong, and the consequences can be dire if you are caught.
No, on the contrary the risks are not at a minimum.
Say that you get caught. From there, it will probably reach the GC (and sometimes even the principal). The GC may (or may not) report it to the schools that you apply to.
Knowing that information, it will be left up to the schools that you apply to. The admissions officers will decide how to interpret your A’s - and if these schools have any ethics, they’ll know that your grades aren’t legitimate. Also, the admissions officers will have to decide if they want a cheater at their school, which most likely they won’t. Think about all that for a second.
On a side note, it’s absolutely stupid that your teacher would allow students to take home the test and then reuse the test for future years, I can’t deny that. However, you can’t use this HUGE flaw in the system as an excuse.
If these things that you say are true, then why do you feel the need to cheat? And also when you start cheating, it won’t matter that you never cheated before.
So no, the consequences/risks are NOT minimal and it’s more than just a matter of ethics. By cheating, you will definitely risk more than just a scholarship - you may not even get into any of the schools you apply to. So just consider that.
EDIT: OP, did you just edit the thread title (by adding “Hypothetical situation”?) No one on CC will fall for that, trust me. No one just posts these kind of threads b/c they are “just asking”. And keep in mind that the way you worded your whole post makes it sound like you’re planning on cheating, not “oh, IF this happened…”
Yeah that was exactly what I was thinking, but they put our names on the paper, litterly watermarked them across the paper so none of us would send it to other people and it would be contained, only with us, I’m not going to lie, this is very tempting but I haven’t decided. I know only the obvious answer would come from this forum, but what would you do if you were in this hypothetical situation…
