Why is this decision being presented as binary - Cornell or nothing? A student bright enough to get accepted to Cornell doubtlessly has other options between that and waiting tables while attending community college at night.

Not sure where you are getting that idea, but it certainly isn’t “cornell or nothing”. K will go somewhere - in-state public, or private with merit aid are the other alternatives.</p>
