hypothetically, 4 APs vs. 3 APs + band?

Band, AP ELAC, AP USH, AP Chem, Physics H, Trig H, Spanish IV H
or
AP ELAC, AP USH, AP Chem, AP Stats, Physics H, Trig H, Spanish IV H

ELAC and USH are the bare minimum that I'm definitely taking. Chem is very likely because I'm doing well in it and I like it a lot, and I'm not going to take it senior year with a year removed from the subject. However, I'm leaning towards Stats as well because math is probably my strongest subject, but 4 years of band is probably a good looking EC to have. Even though it's possible, I do not want to drop Spanish either. If it matters, it is possible to take Stats senior year.

Has anyone else out there had a similar dilemma or taken the same combination of classes? These are for next year, junior year, by the way.

First chair tenor? High five :)

Do you enjoy band? If so, stick with it.

Haha, I realized that that wasn’t very relevant to keep in the post since there are only two of us.

I mean I do enjoy the class, in my opinion it’s the best “arts” class my school offers, except maybe jazz but I probably wouldn’t be able to fit that in my schedule. It’s also a nice break in my day from core classes.

Take Band, and self-study AP Statistics, it’s an easy course anyways.

But even if you don’t self-study, I’d still recommend Band. Because colleges would rather accept a kid that took 10 AP courses and is musically oriented over a kid that took 11 AP courses and just bummed around.

Since you enjoy it, you should stick with band and maybe take Stats senior year.

Edit: Or self-study, as CalvinTBOD suggested. It’s easy.

how about self-studying band? there’s a possibility of just practicing the music on my own/after school and playing in the concerts.
I’ve also been thinking about the GPA boost an A in Stats would bring.

Nah, I wouldn’t “self-study” band. There are things your BD might want you to play differently on your music.

btw, euphonium player here

anyone else ever been in the same situation?
