HYPS is my safety, right?

<p>Totally kidding, got your attention though, right? Haha. I would be very grateful if you could chance me:</p>

<p>Objective:</p>

<pre><code>* SAT I (breakdown): 2350 (M: 780, W: 800, CR: 770)
NOTE: This score is "superscored". I took the highest score from each of the sections from all the SAT's I have taken (three). I have done this because it applies to Harvard's SAT policy. My highest single sitting score is 2280.
* SAT II: Math IIC (780); US History (770); Physics (700); Biology Molecular (730)
NOTE: I will probably not be using Physics and Biology M test scores. I AM planning to take a Subject Test in either World History or English Literature. Also, if I have the opportunity, I might work to improve my existing Math and US History scores.
* Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
* Weighted GPA: 4.67
* Rank: 1/336
NOTE:Tied with 3 others, 2 of whom are ranked 1 even though they do not take AP classes.
* AP Scores: Biology (5); European History (5); US History (5); Calculus AB (5); Physics B (4); English Language/Composition (4); World History (5 - self studied, if that means anything?)
* IB: None taken
* Senior Year Course Load: AP Calculus BC, AP English Literature/Composition, AP Macroeconomics, AP Environmental Science, Journalism, Tennis (Varsity)
* Major Awards: Hopefully National Merit Semifinalist (Scored 219 in California.) :/ ; California Southern Baptist Convention - Bible Drill 2nd Place (pretty lame I guess, but at least it'll put me into a broader perspective)
</code></pre>

<p>Subjective:</p>

<pre><code>* Extracurriculars : Newspaper (Co-Editor-in-Chief); Class Council (Senior Vice President, Junior Treasurer); Interact (Treasurer); Asian Culture Club (Treasurer); Associated Student Body (Member); California Scholarship Federation (Member)
* Job/Work Experience: None
* Volunteer/Community service: Interact, City of Hope Medical Center, City Hall, City Park, Library (Tutor, Summer Reading Club Volunteer), Intervention (tutor freshman students during lunchtime)
NOTE: Should have completed around 500 hours by Application period.
* Summer Activities: Boys State, AAJA J CAMP
* Essays: Should be pretty decent
* Teacher Recommendation: One really good one for sure. Second one should be pretty decent
* Counselor Rec: Generic. Doesn't even know me
* Additional Rec: From Library Children's Manager. Should be good,
* Interview: Not fabulous. Not Horrible. Should be average.
</code></pre>

<p>Other</p>

<pre><code>* State: California
* School Type: Public
* Ethnicity: Asian-American
* Gender: Male
* Income Bracket: around 70k annually
</code></pre>

<p>Reflection</p>

<pre><code>* Strengths: Good ECs and SAT I scores, I guess?? :/
* Weaknesses: Weak SAT II scores?
</code></pre>

<p>The schools I'm thinking of are:
UC Berkeley
UC Los Angeles
CalTech
MIT
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Stanford
Columbia </p>

<p>It'd be great if you could please chance me in the format of high reach/reach/match/safety, etc.

Thanks so much and dont be afraid to be brutally honest!***</p>

<p>UC Berkeley - Accept
UC Los Angeles - Accept
CalTech - Reject
MIT - Reject
Harvard - Reject
Yale - Waitlist/Reject
Princeton - Waitlist/Accept
Stanford - Reject
Columbia - Accept/Waitlist</p>

<p>@kwu: thanks for your honesty. But I believe you posted on my only Harvard chances thread that:</p>

<p>"You look solid.
Just don't EXPECT to be admitted, and hope for the best."</p>

<p>I'm confused, haha.</p>

<p>UC Berkeley- In
UC Los Angeles- In
CalTech- Medium Reach
MIT- Bigger Reach
Harvard- Bigger Reach
Yale- Bigger Reach
Princeton- Bigger Reach
Stanford- Bigger Reach
Columbia- Medium Reach</p>

<p>Consider also: Cornell- Smaller reach/high match, UMichigan-safety and in at the Honors Program</p>

<p>I predict 1, possibly 2, Ivy league acceptances, but don't count on it.</p>

<p>thanks smart.cookie. Are there any other "suggested schools"? I would really appreciate them to help me out with my college application process.</p>

<p>Hmm... What is your intended major?
Off the top of my head I would say that you might want to consider Johns Hopkins, Washington University in St. Louis, and Vandy.</p>

<p>Chance me? <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/562816-sarah-palin-doesn-t-stand-chance-do-i.html%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/562816-sarah-palin-doesn-t-stand-chance-do-i.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>@smart.cookie: intended major....haha... Honestly, I'm still undecided. Speaking of which, does it look really bad to put undecided on my college apps?</p>

<p>I'll try and chance you but I don't know that much about how ones profile matches with schools, I thought I had an OK shot (though very slim of course) at some of these schools, but I guess I'll for sure get "Rejected" at most of them? haha.</p>

<p>Well, as is the case with most Ivy league applicants the rejections will probably outnumber the acceptances, but you are definitely an awesome applicant. I predict that you will get into at least 1 Ivy (most likely Cornell if you apply there, possibly Columbia). Who knows? Maybe you will make it into all!</p>

<p>anyone else?</p>

<p>bump.10char</p>

<p>UC Berkeley - In
UC Los Angeles - In
CalTech - Reach
MIT - Reach
Harvard - Reach
Yale - Reachish but good shot
Princeton - Reachish but good shot</p>

<p>good luck!
Stanford - Reach
Columbia - Good shot</p>
