Chance me please
Hi! I go to a private high school in Turkey. In the Turkish system, we had to take an exam before going to high school. And I am in a school where the student with the lowest score on the exam was in 99th percentile, so we are all geniuses lol. I am saying this because my GPA is not so high and that is the reason. I am hoping to do an econ degree.

SAT: 2390 (790 on writing)
Subject Tests: 800 on Maths 2, 790 on Literature
TOEFL 677/677 paper-based
99.5 percentile nationally in MSOS, the Turkish high school entry exam
GPA: 88 (in Turkish Education system grades are shown with a 1-5 system and 85+ is 5.0)
Rank: school doesnt reveal but not in the top 3

If your essays are good (which I’ll assume they are) you have pretty good chances at HYPSM. Duke should be relatively “easy”, and cambridge should have some decent chances.

Just making sure you know, the last deadline for undergraduate admissions to Cambridge passed several days ago, so unless you have already applied your not going there lol

Wow. Amazing… everything!! I would say all those schools are at least low matches. Cambrige may be a little tougher but you still have a good chance!

I assume you will have great essays and letters of rec. You have a very impressive resume. But considering these are all top schools I would say HYPSM are reaches. Duke is a low reach. Cambridge is a reach. Good luck! I hope you get in.

HYPSM: pretty much all are low reaches, since that’s just the way it tends to be for most applicants, though you do still definitely have a good shot

I’m not too familiar with cambridge though, but from what I’ve researched in the past 15 mins or so, it’s a bit of a reach.

Darthvader2, you are mistaken for Stanford. Harvard is not need-aware, but Stanford is.
Need-aware means that they take FA into consideration, which certainly does not help, and will most likely lower your chances if you need a lot of money.

“If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident, your request for financial aid will be a factor in our admission evaluation.”

I would recommend early-actioning to a school that is need-blind. I have a friend who is an international student in Illinois who had a 97% GPA, 2360 SAT, 800/790/800/760 SAT IIs, Siemens semifinalist, intel semifinalist, and all 5’s on 13 APs WHO DID NOT GET ACCEPTED TO STANFORD as he required more than 50% of his tuition paid for. He got accepted to MIT and Princeton though.

I’m not trying to discourage you. I’m just being realistic. The number of students WHO NEED FA is rising, which means that admissions will get more and more challenging. If Stanford is your absolute dream school, still apply EA. But if you’re more concerned with prestige, I’d recommend Harvard or an Ivy that is need-blind. Harvard’s supplements are also very short.

1) There’s no AP exam in Geometry and English Writing.
2) RC does reveal rankings in the first month of senior year. You know your ranking, everybody does.
3) World Economic Geography, Sociology and Economics were not opened this year at our school, nor you are able to take that many classes with the maximum amount of electives we get to choose.
4) You’re not in the student council. There are three current members, and all of them will stay in Turkey for university.
5) Seriously MUN, Debate, JA, SC, Basketball, Theatre, Drums, Tennis, 190+ CIP hours, speaking 4 languages, all in one?! That person does not exist, not at our school. I’d certainly know who you are if all these were true.
