Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT and _____.

Assuming that when it comes to reputation, these 5 dominate on an international scale and are more or less on par with each other, which would be the 6th letter in your opinion?

*
Disclaimer: This is not one of these threads about a highschooler choosing where to apply. I'm already happy as hell at my college (which is not on that list). This is just a matter of curiosity since I keep seeing that acronym pop up all over the place. So no "OMG like don't be such a prestige-hog" please. :D*

Dunno... Caltech? =/
It was no. 1 once if I remember correctly.

I've always been a fan of PYMPS: Princeton, Yale, MIT, Penn, Stanford. I can't see that going over well though.

Columbia University

I have seen C added at the end and referring to Cal Tech. Not supporting, just reporting.

I want to say Caltech...but it is just very self selecting and ridiculously small...In light of that, I suppose I'd say Columbia.

It's unanimous. The 6th letter should be a C.

The East Coast side of me wants to say Columbia.

The West Coast side wants to say Cal. (That's Berkeley to you.)

It is NOT unanimous. While CalTech has higher SAT test scores for its students, Penn is ranked higher by most critical measures that consider not only admissions requirements, but also the programs, the research and the faculty, among other criteria. HYPSMP doesn't roll off the tongue though does it?

Honestly people don't consider Columbia better than Penn....

I would agree more with HYPSMP

From Alexander Hamilton to Lou Gehrig to FDR to Warren Buffet and Barack Obama-Columbia fills in the last blank.

Johns Hopkins

or maybe XXX Community College ;)

HYPSMC and Georgetown SFS, Penn-Wharton, Julliard and Cal Tech to have all encompassing undergraduate educational pinnacle.

^ Julliard is too much of a specialty school to group with the rest

The purpose of the HYPSM acronym was to group those five schools that were unanimously in their complete own league of excellence. Based on this discussion there clearly isn't one unanimous choice of a school that belongs with HYPSM in their "uber-elite" status so why are people trying adding a C, P, etc to this solidly established group??

^people just want to add their school to the list.
