The fact that you're so balanced really helps you out in with the Ivy League schools, considering my friends had lower GPA's and less quality EC's and still got in. The schools that focus on Engineering may want to see your final grades or how you're projected to finish in those Calculus classes before accepting you.

Naw, it's legit. Thanks, FGF, I have the same feeling about MIT/Caltech. I mean, I won't have any trouble with the Calc classes, but they're looking for RSI, USAMO, etc. I'd much rather go to HYPS (or in my case SPHY) for a more well-rounded undergrad, and specialize later.

don't you hate band? Debate lowers my GPA like band does... Your chances? Good luck on all. Your SATs are great (almost perfect), but your ECs are weak. You have a shot at all! But I kinda agree w/ vivalacollege and michaeljackson. You don't have a garunteed chance (unless you are Bill Gate's son or something). No one does.

Your Ecs are weak.
But other than that, i don't see anything holding you back from getting in. I mean, for goodness sake, your SATs are perfect.

I am also a Siemens Regional Finalist - I put so much time into the research, I was just wondering what kind of chances I would have had without it. You know, whether it was worth it as far as college applications go (I wouldn't change it for anything, it was a great experience).

So another thing, should I even mention that I qualified for the AIME on my MIT/Caltech applications? I didn't do that well, and it's not very impressive - so many other applicants who took it qualified for the USAMO.

YES. put down AIME. and no, there aren't "so many" USAMO qualifiers. putting down that u've taken the AIME will definitely make you stand out, even if you got a 0 on the test . they're like insane about he math/science/passion ECs. but even if you don't get into MIT, there's a big chance you can get into all ur other schools!! gl
