My I-20 hasn't been sent out, even though I sent all required forms well in advance. Does anyone else have this issue?

Exact same situation. Sent all documents and paid enrollment in April and have yet to receive anything. Called them up a few weeks ago, they said it’ll arrive by the first week of June. Called them a couple of days ago, they said 3-4 weeks. It is quite frustrating really. They should realize the rush that occurs for student visas at American Consulates and how it can take up to 4 weeks for a visa to be processed. I can’t really finalise my summer plans because of this and had to pay a deposit to another uni in Candada just in case.

Don’t worry about it. Follow up with the university frequently for status updates until you receive the I-20. Hidevik, forget about Canada. Even the best Canadian university does not come close to Michigan.

Really, I’m quite appalled at their negligence. All of my friends who applied elsewhere had received their I-20s within a week or two of sending their documents. Michigan, on the other hand, sends out most of its I-20s only at the end of June.

Alexandre, I’ve done many follow-ups, but with no success. They keep saying that ‘it will arrive shortly’, but so far, it hasn’t. They don’t seem to understand that we have to hunt for back-up options and constantly worry about the visa arriving on time (the processing of which can take up to 45 days).

I know it sounds weird to say this after such a long time, but my I-20 is still nowhere to be found… thats quite miserable

Are you guys talking to the right person? I mean the one (and only ONE) person who accepted you? Each country has an admissions officer responsible for it. I have known over 30 students who have gone to Michigan from the UAE in the last 6 years, and none of them ever had any trouble with the I-20. They all received it between late May and mid July, which is fairly standard.

Perhaps you guys are from India or China, in which case, good luck to you! Michigan must process your I-20 along with 100 others. Most other universities (with the exception of perhaps Purdue and UIUC) do not have to process as many I-20 from any one country.

Talk directly to the admissions officer responsible for your country if you have not already done son.
