I ACCIDENTALLY LIED ON MY CSU APPLICATION

So...my parents have been out of the country for over a month now and this morning I decided that I was going to fill out my CSU application. I was filling it out and I was so excited because I am a community college transfer student and this is a big deal sooo yeah then I get to the few waiver part and I casually type what I think the correct family income is. My grandparents have been staying with us so I include them in the household size. I don't give it a second thought. I just now got off the phone with my dad and it turns out I was completely off. He thinks this innocent mistake can ruin my chances of going to a university. My intentions were never to lie. I can pay he $55 fee. I am freaking out. And I don't know what to do? Should I call? Should I explain to them what happened? Will they even believe me? What is going to happen?

You didn’t know, you didn’t lie.

You can call them to fix it. But not today (they are probably open but don’t want your type of question).

People make mistakes, and you didn’t know.

You may be wrong, your Dad may be wrong. No one “lied”. Call on Monday and ask for clarification on how to properly answer that question, and explain your methodology. The key is, ask for their help on answering the question- they are the experts. Don’t summarize or conclude, just work through it. Either the grandparents are part of the household and you must include their income, or they are not, and you don’t. You may want to be clear in your own mind what you think the situation is before you call.

Did you jeopardize your chance of getting in? Highly unlikely.

Thank you so much for replying. I still feel like my heart is going to bulge out of my chest but I feel better. Thank you.

I will make sure to call first thing Monday morning. I am praying that it is not too late and they can still help me. Thank you very much.
