I can't afford NW based on their aid so how do I decline admission? I can't find the place to either enroll or decline admission...

Where did you get the login info (or what info do you need)? In the physical package you got?

in your acceptance packet there sould be a form for you to mail to them either accepting or declining admission

Yeah, similar question here - I activated the NU login because I’d understood I could check FA, but I didn’t follow through when it asked me to create a student email. It felt too much like commitment to the school, when I really have no idea whether I’ll go or not. Can anyone provide insight: I know that we still have to submit the reply card and turn in a deposit to accept the offer of admission, but is this account an informal acceptance, or can it easily be canceled?

Easily cancelled, assuming its necessary to see your fin. aid.

I was wondering that too. I got my packet today, and havent activated my id yet, but I’m afraid activating it will imply my commitment…

I went ahead and activated it. I figure they can’t really consider you committed until you pay the deposit. FA was not amazing, but better than I had decided to expect. I’ve been very pessimistic these last few weeks based on other offers and estimates.

I’m sure they won’t FORCE you to attend NW for activating the NetID. I mean you have to pay like a $500 dollar deposit in order to commit. But I’m just worried that they’ll keep sending you stuff and reminding you and the fact that there is no option to decline their acceptance is kinda weird.

Well in the admission packet, in the envelope that held the letter with the activation instructions for your id, it had a decline/accept admission card.

That’s probably what you use.

so creating the e-mail account doesn’t commit you?

I have no clue. I haven’t created mine yet, just to be sure.

I would assume it doesn’t. They probably cancel the account if you decline admission.

Is the ID only in the packet they mail you? I was notified by snailmail but didn’t get the packet yet. Does anyone else not have it yet?

You confirm admission by sending them $$$.

SoCaliii, the accept/decline card should be in your admit packet. Do send your card right away.

How did you get on to caesar? I created the email and everything [without even considering commitment - I just wanted to view FA] but can’t log in. I emailed them but am wondering whether I just missed a step?

^After you activate it, go to northwestern.edu/caesar

I did, and it says my User ID/Password is incorrect? Even though I’ve tried like twenty times and the form to check both says it’s fine?

Anyway, I have to pay 35K, which is more than 30K for JHU and 25K for Rice. I don’t think it’d be worth it to go to Northwestern anymore…

I’m sorry, Modulation. The best you could do is bargain with NU. It doesn’t hurt. If it doesn’t work, best of luck wherever you end up.

I just set up my password/pin, and stopped after seeing the email page. Then I went to northwestern.edu/caesar and logged in fine. You’re not required to create an email address in order to access your account.

And wow, NU finaid really sucks… my fafsa efc was 25K but NU wants me to pay 47K; they’re only giving me 6K!! It’s definitely not worth it going to NU.
