I already had my interview!

anyone else in the same boat?
I thought it was exceptionally early - I think I'm one of the first ones...the guy didn't have my info at all since I only submitted part I. Somehow I don't feel like the interview has a big impact on whether you get in or not - the interviewer even told me a few stories how he had some great recommendations for some strong candidates but they didn't get accepted and he was angry, phoned the dean of admissions, and nothing was done.

What did they ask you?
Where did you have it?
How long?

How soon did you get ur interview after sending in Part 1?

Hey I just got contacted today by an Alumni today through e-mail...and I still haven't sent in part II yet! o man....

i was contacted in less than a week..actually, 4 days. and i didn't send in part II. It was half an hour and very general questions..these things aren't stressful.

So it's more like for you to know them?? Ahh...I was thinking of using this interview as a good chance to make a dynamic impression...haha

Did I mention im EDing it?

As an Alumnus who has participated in these interviews let me just iterate that they are nothing to stress over. They are indeed just as must to assist you as they are to assist the school. It is a chance for Columbia to "personally" interact with you, but more importantly it is a chance for you to get to know the school, to ask questions yourself, and determine if it is a good fit. Undoubtedly many of you who are accepted to Columbia will also be accepted to the likes of Dartmouth, Stanford, and Yale and you will need all the information you can get to decide between them.

I sent in my part I on Oct 6th - still no interview, is that normal? and i live in nyc

Now that I think about...maybe a lot of it have to do with ED...if you are regular...then they probably take their time.

Oh yeah we live closer to Columbia (& NYC), and because of that, more alumni are probably bound to work and inhabit near...lucky us? =)

has anyone who lives in California had an interview / have been contacted yet?

you are lucky you live in a popular state like Cali...I had my interview yesterday and I asked my interviewer this question...he said that states like Oregon (LOL dunno why he chose that) might only have a couple of alumni while states like jersey, nY, and Cali might have many...so dun worry.

thanks for the reassurance =). Where are you from anyway Delfire?

Good Old Nothern Jersey

i was contacted today... scheduled for nov. 5th
i cant help but be nervous

we dont need an interview for Columbia right? it is optional? I am worried because you all have one and I dont. thnx

yeah, the interview is optional...hopefully I wint get one because I think I will be to nervous

When you get called for an interview, do they pick the time/day or do they ask for your input?

I hope that they would ask you... I wouldn't want to ditch a sport practice and **** my team off or anything.

Great, I live in Oregon. I'm not worried about having an interview although I won't really mind if I don't have one either.

Where did you guys have your interviews? At your house? Starbucks?
