I am 39 years old. Where can I get in?

I finish soon 50 semester credit points from a California junior college, with a GPA of 3.88.
I have a SAT of 1300 (730 Math, 570 English, after 3 years in USA).
SAT I MAth 780
SAT II MAth 730

What California universities will accept my transfer for a major in MATH, in order to become a high school teacher? I am very old and I did not do sports, community work, volunteering, etc, etc.

Where do I have a chance?

are you serious....39 yr old to took the sat....is that even allowed? and why are you taking sats, you dont need the sat.....DONT PAY ATTENTION TO HIM....TROLLER

***...you dumbarse...give up already

39? i don't believe it. i smell lies.

you guys are retarded. There are non traditional students out there and when you get into college you will see. I've taken classes wtih a 35 year old and a 40 year old so 39 is more than likely.

Yes, I would believe it. You could try the UC system, I've heard that they're open to transfers.

Your age would be a slight advantage I would think.

You should be able to follow the usual path for a junior college transfer.

I.e., use the normal college placement services.

Some of these replies are stupid. Yes there are older students who go to college, did you think there was a cut off age?

yeah this isnt that crazy at all guys. my aunt went to med school when she was in her mid-30's. it is, of course, very rare. but it happens.

Who the hell would write this " I am very old and..."

You're hilarious dude.

It's called being a non-traditional student, there's a woman who's at least fifty years old in my freshman stats class. It isn't that far-fetched. S/he didn't ask you to ridicule their age. They asked about their chances. Goodness.

Good grief, since when has CC been so rude? :( There's a man in my Ecology class who's at least 40, and ThomasH32 (another CC poster) is 32 and going to U Penn.

With a high GPA like that, I'd think you're competitive for most UC's.

Be sure to check to see if the math departments offer teaching certification. You might also look to see if the certification has recipocity in other states if you decide to teach elsewhere.

I agree. Stop being so mean. I mean, there are people out there who didn't go to college when they were young and want to now

wow some of you all are mean, immature, or just completely unknowledgeable to the fact that yes, people over the age of 21 are in college. Some people are unable to go to college right after HS for different reasons.

You should be able to get into any college with your gpa. Visit the websites of the colleges you are interested in attending and find out what their transfer policy or if there is a specific program for adult students.

I'd think the Cal publics would be receptive, especially if you want to be a teacher.

Wow this arguing needs to stop. As a matter of fact, there has been a lot of trolling on CC, and I think BestMiler and Jo.InC. were just reacting to a thread labeled "I am 39 years old" in a suspecting manner....even though they could have been a bit more tactful. Let's just try and keep the peace here.

Anyway, I wanted to ask Old_student whether he/she is determined to stay in state. I know that in Texas the state board of education is desperate for licensed teachers. Just my 2 cents.

Just my comment to those of you who are bashing. With defined benefit retirement plans off the table and US manufacturing suffering: prepare yourself to keep up, to continue education as a process and not an end. Think about the desire and willingness to continue to learn before you bash on CC. I don't think that any student who comes here looking for information or support is deserving of small minded treatment. Prepare yourself for your own future and then think back on the posts you read from non-traditional students.

I did not answer by now to any of the young people answering in a nasty manner to my honest posting. I am sorry that, not having a clue about what is life about, you felt the urge to pick on me calling me "dumbarse" or other names.
Just for your curiousity, I am going back to school at this old age because for about 12 years I fought for my son's life, son born with a genetic disease 1/million. No more comments on this.
How do you call a 39 years old woman "a dumbarse" ?. Oh, God.
