I am a Californian resident looking at California schools

Hi guyz. I need as much advice as I can get. I am a white, non minority California resident and my parents make ok money. I go to a well known high school in south california...2000 students or so. I am ranked 43/561 ~ top 7% or so. I can maybe get that up a little more.

I want to major in music. The UC's look the best to me right now. Especially UCSC, UCSB, Cal, and USC. I do not know of any music colleges but if anyone knows of good ones that would be helpful (I am not positive music is going to be my sure major.. I may want to minor in it and major in economics or something on that line.) I did bad Sophomore year because of family troubles but did great junior year... dunno if its anything to mention in application or just leave alone because my gpa isnt too terrible. Here's the numbers.

Our scores are weighted where in a normal/honors class A = 4 points.. B = 3 points and so on. AP classes are weighted so that an A = 5 points B = 4 points.

Rank 43/561
SAT 1 2120 (Math 730 Verbal 670 Writing 720)
Dunno about gpas really. I think my Uc gpa is somewhere a little above 4.0.
Can anyone figure out my UC gpa? or tell me how to do it? I don't understand how the weighting works.

I know I do not have perfect test scores but I hope my passion for music will make up for inperfections. What does everyone think? safety/reach/matches would be nice too. Thanks a bunch!

bump bump? I really need any advice Please help ;(

Cooljohn003:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

thanks alot! Those numbers seem a bit high. What does everyone else think?

idunno, i guess it depends on what major you pick since some majors are harder to get into at some schools. But generally:

UC Berkley - reach
UCLA - slight reach
UCSD - match
UCI, UCR,UCSB, and the rest of the UCs - safety.

i live near UCI and they accepted like almost 60% of all ppl who apply. so yah, itz pretty much a safety.

bump bump.. any more comments.. What would my gpa be about weighted/unweighted for UC's and USC?
