I am a tour guide at Exeter and am very familiar with admissions. please reply if you would like for me to chance you or if you have any questions about Exeter.

How are the English and History departments at Exeter? Are the teachers helpful and inspiring? What do you find special about these programs? How competitive is your Debate program and where do they compete? Thanks.

Are you a student?

(must be a silly question) Sorry!

Hello,

My daughter is applying to PEA after attending the Summer Access Program (Global Community) this summer. She loved it and is applying for the class of 2012. Her experience gave her the opportunity to learn about 5 foreign languages, Chinese, Arabic, German, French and Russian. She really enjoyed being part of the Harkness table and thrived in the PEA environment. She loves Math and Science and is an A student, but currently has a B+ in English. She also loves to read and debate. She reads about a book a week and that is along with her extra curriculars which include Math Team, Girl Scouts, volunteering at a local enrichment center for young children and babysitting. Some of her favorite series are Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Percy Jackson, 39 Clues and the Mysterious Benedict Society. She also helps out at the local cable station and participated in the Newburyport Literary Festival where she filmed the talk given by Andre Dubus II (House of Sand and Fog) and Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked.

We live in Newburyport which is about 30 minutes from Exeter and she will likely apply as a boarding student, but she is undecided yet. Do you have any insight into the pros and cons of being a day student? Will she be missing out of the full PEA experience if she lives at home? So much to think about.

She has an interview in a few weeks and will hopefully meet up with her Russian teacher. I would love for her to meet some current students before Xmas break because she is not having a tour because there were no tour guides available that day. Her appt. is from 10-12 on Tuesday Nov. 23rd.

What year are you? Are you an international student or do you live in the states? What are your interests and what are some of your favorite classes and teachers?

My daughter will be taking her SSATs in about a week. She has studied alot from her math book but has not looked at her literature book yet. Did you take the SSATs and if so, what was your experience? Did you do much preparing beforehand?

Would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thank you for your time.
