<p>I am about to ED Columbia or Cornell. Could you please tell me what are my chances and which university I should choose. Thx so much!</p>

<p>Possible major: media, psychology and social science
Ethnicity :Asian (hope you don't get bored)
TOEFL:106 ( will get to 110+ later)
ACT: 31 (waiting for the result of another test score, have a chance to get 32 or 33)
English 31, Math 35, Reading 26, Science 32, Writing 10
SAT II
Math II 800, Chemistry 780, (about to have Physics and French)
AP
AP psy: 4, AP Macro Econ: 4, AP Cal BC:3
GPA: 3.8
One of the best schools in my city.
Top 10 student
Extracurricular activities:
1.author of summaries of 8 novels of Balzac and published the book
2. Assistant Director of media committee in a forum (worked 112hrs/wk)
3. journalist for government air cleaning program and published 4 articles
4. participant of leadership summit
5.French club organizer

8.helping the mental inability people find job for a long period of time

<p>Weird we have almost identical scores. Columbia is a super mega reach, and Cornell is more of a low reach if ED</p>

<p>since you are a foreigner(I am too :slight_smile: ), you need to be better than techinically ANYONE to compete with others. </p>

<p>Also, can you retake ACT? </p>

<p>@MYOS1634‌ , does Columbia waive TOEFL if a student has good Reading score in ACT? I think Columbia waives TOEFL requirement above certain CR score-like 670?, but I don’t know about if the school waives TOEFL with ACT.</p>

<p>thx. Yeah,Columbia is a mega reach, but I just love it! I might get a rec from a Harvard student. Actually, I am quite good at writing essays! Hope I get a chance.
Cornell, well, is a safer choice.</p>

<p>I took a class for high school students at Columbia over the summer and learned that it was the most diverse out of all Ivies in regards to international students/students of different races. I actually think that you should apply there, because if you “have a crush” on it, your passion for it will easily come through in your essays. I think you should use your ED on Columbia since it’s more of a reach but you seem to like it more, and your regular decision on Cornell since you seem to have a better chance of being accepted there.</p>
