DISCLAIMER: All help is greatly appreciated; however, please do not crush my heart into a fine powder. :)

I am about to finish my junior year in a small town in Arkansas. I am a caucasian male. As far as test scores go, I just made a 31 on ACT (without writing), a 30 on ACT (with writing). This two yield a superscore of a 33. I have ascertained a 4.0 GPA for all three years of highschool. This year I was in AP Am. Gov and AP English Comp. I feel like I aced the AP gov test, let's hope for the same on the English! haha Next year I will be enrolled in AP Calc, AP Bio, AP Lit, AP Spanish Lang, and APUSH. I'm stoked! :) My class has about 250 students and I am situated at 4th in the class. I have numerous extra-curriculars. I have been on the varsity tennis team all three years, and this year I made it to State and got eighth for singles. I have been in concert choir, chamber choir, and male ensemble at my school all three years. All years I made All-Region and All-State choir. I can "sang"! LOL I am in Beta Club, Student Council officer (3 years), Spanish Honorary, Key Club, and most recently I was elected as President of National Honor Society and Captain of varsity Quiz Bowl. I was also a co-founder of the H.E.L.P. club (humanitarian efforts for life progression), we even help start a recycling program for the basketball games at school. I have been avid the past three years in quiz bowl. We have made top four in state each year. My freshman year I was captain of the junior high quiz bowl team and led us to win 1st in State 6A and got MVP for state. I took part in different summer programs. I was a student ambassador with People to People to Europe. I went to National Honors Convocation for Medicine. This year I was nominated and will represent my school at American Legion Boys State and Arkansas Governor's School for Social Science. My sophomore year I was chosen my faculty to be the sole sophomore representative to the Hugh O' Brian Youth leadership forum. With my HOBY account I logged over 100 hours of community service this past year, mostly at the animal shelter. I love zee fat cats!! I know I sound like a whiny, pretentious brat, but wouldst thou chanceth me!?!? tehe Thank y'all so much!!! My heart is set to be a Dart! cheesy

p.s. I have no idea in Hell what I would study at Dartmouth. Where could I go wrong at such a stellar instution!?!?

From your stats…You are w/o a doubt a strong candidate for admissions~
Go for ED and hope for the best! Make sure you write a really strong personal statement especially since Dartmouth supplement doesnt require an extra essay ^^

However, do keep in mind that Dartmouth is an ivy…Meaning that the admissions committee is really o.O?! (Even super strong candidates get denied for some bizarre reason…)

Good luck with your application~ ^^

Your stats are very impressive. The only thing I’d work on is getting your ACT score up. Your best best would be a 34+ Also, I’d assume by them you’re also taking the most rigorous schedule avalible to you? If so, write a kick-(explicative) essay, apply ED, and pray to the deity of your choice, and you should have a good chance! I’d love to see someone so involved joining me in the frozen wilderness. lol.

You definitely seem to meet their criteria. You have as good of a chance as all qualified candidates I’d say.

Cheesy, chill! If you’re freaking out now, you will never make it through next November.

Important thing to remember: Dartmouth’s terrific, but there are other terrific schools out there too.

Have you visited yet? You should do that, in the heavy heavy winter. Oh wait – the next winter won’t be until after you’ve applied, if you go ED. Arkansas winters and New Hampshire winters are very different things.

During an admissions panel of admissions directors, someone very wise said you shouldn’t have one first choice; you should have several first choices. Consider what you like about Dartmouth – its location? Size? LAC-ness? Ivy-ness? – and then find other schools that have the same characteristics. Dartmouth can be one of your first choices.

P.S.: Check out Bowdoin, Middlebury, Amherst, Williams, Bucknell, Cornell, Lehigh . . . if you’re determined to come to the best part of the country, the NorthEast. :)

Reminder, there is no superscoring for the ACT.

I think you have a pretty good chance for Dartmouth ED (even though they claim that ED applicants don’t have any advantage over RD applicants save for the extra time for each app). Fortunately your location (Arkansas) is at least somewhat of a boost in admissions because they’re looking for geographic diversity. I agree that if you up your ACT score just a tad you’ll have better chances… and I also agree that you should visit if possible since you have lots of time to decide on your ED school of choice. Good luck!
