So I have run cross country for a while, and I have already applied to alot of schools where sports are prominent. Will being an athlete help me out if I keep up to date with the coaches, and gain some interest with them, even though the apps are already in????

No.

High School athletics are part of your EC’s. Colleges know how much time and effort it takes to balance high school varsity sports with academics. However, EC’s will not make up for a weakness in GPA, rigor, or SAT/ACT scores.

It is possible, if your times are competitive for the team and the coaches have not been able to recruit enough new runners. Depending on the colleges, even if they are done recruiting, some coaches might flag your application if you are good enough to compete as a walk-on. Ask the coaches.

thanks!!!

What are your XC times? I just started running XC this year (my senior year) and I love it. XC>Track Distance :)
