So I’ve been accepted into Emory’s Undergraduate Class of 2026. While Emory’s Goizueta Business School is very reputable and strong, and Atlanta is a very large business hub, Wharton has always been my dream.
Do you think it would be worth trying to transfer to Wharton? Or will Emory itself be fine? I’ve seen that if I just network hard at Emory then I get definitely land positions in Management/Strategy Consulting, IB, PE, etc.
Maybe Wharton can be MBA level?
→ Don’t get me wrong, I really like Emory, but I just really want to try to shoot for the moon.
Any comments and responses would be greatly appreciated!!
I’ve always told my kids this: if school X can’t recognize what you’ll bring to their campus, they don’t deserve you. Emory recognized your value. You seem happy about that. You don’t need Wharton to succeed in life.

Thank you! That means a lot!!
There are some fields which are very conscious of undergraduate college prestige. IB and consulting are two of these. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get into these fields from Emory. Just network and try your hardest. Go to Emory with an open mind, you might actually love it.
But if you’re not planning on going into IB or consulting, then a degree from Emory will do you just fine. A degree is just a piece of paper. What you do with your life afterwards is largely up to you. Be motivated and work hard, everything else will follow.
So you start next fall (class of 26)?
It’s sad that you haven’t started college and already are looking to transfer.
How do you know you’ll get good grades at Emory ? How do you know you won’t love it there ? When you get to Emory, you’ll likely find it far more difficult than HS - you won’t be the star. Everyone there is a star.
Do you even know what people do in private equity, IB or consulting ?
Show me a private equity firm and you’ll find partners from UCONN to Harvard to Long Beach State.
Much of IB is transitioning to New Jersey, Nashville, Atlanta, India and more.
The large consultants hire from so many schools today. And typically seek a tech background.
If I’m reading this right, Wharton rejected and Emory accepted to start next Fall??
Love the one that loves you back. Go forth. Get great grades. At this point, your question is far premature. But with that mindset you won’t give the school you got into a fair chance. And that’s sad !!
