I am back. &nd ready to chance you!

Thank you PsychBruin 2012

@Tccom I do not think Econ is impacted at any of those schools except maybe UCI. I know for sure it isn’t at Davis.

I don’t think Econ is impacted at UCI either. I might be wrong though, don’t take my word on it. I know for sure that UCLA and Cal have Econ heavily impacted.

Deans List each semester

College Extracurriculars (not a whole lot):

CCE Hospital internship
Part-time job (avg 25 hrs/week)

Thanks so much, this made my day! I’ll make sure to keep my personal statements focused/concise.
As for the school I prefer to get into, it’s a toss-up. I love both schools, and I’m quite miserable at ucsd. I hope I get into at least one!

@psychbruin thanks! I’ll come back with more questions soon I’m sure, I’m planning to call tomorrow. I was worried that they wouldn’t notice that the only classes I havent aced were during high school when I had 4 ap classes and sports and the summer after high school. And yea I’ll have the IGETC finish and an associates in Psych (criminology would probably like that lol) and i have every single pre-req (except psych 1 if they won’t give me credit for me but like you said they prolly will).

Also, I didn’t tag because I didnt have 30 units by the summer.

**@CruxSC: Hey! I am not completely familiar with UC Irvine’s computer science major or department. But, if you do exceptionally well this semester and you raise up your GPA…you might be okay. I would call up Irvine and see at what GPA they are looking for. I would say 3.2-3.4+ GPA for CS. If worse comes to worse you want you can stay back another year and up your GPA to a 3.5 and you will for sure get in! But, you might have a chance it depends on your application as a whole! Good luck & let me know what they say :relaxed:

-KC<3

@Tccom: Hmm…with a 3.3-3.4 you have a good shot at Davis and Irvine. Santa Barbara I am not sure. &nd as for SD you have a shot but I am not sure! It can go either way due to the amount of TAG applicants this year! As for the units, doo not worry! You have a “January Update” where you will tell them what classes you will be taking in the Spring time! This will give them an idea, units wise as well as course work amount! Good luck &nd let me know if you have any more questions! :relaxed:

-KC<3

@Emprex: Aww, no problem! :relaxed:

-KC<3

@HockeyGiant: Yeah! I do not believe Econ is impacted at Irvine! :relaxed: CAL/UCLA are two schools that are tough to get into with an econ major!

-KC<3

[@ParkRanger: Hey ParkRanger! You will get into UCSD & UCI for sure! As for Berkeley your GPA is amazing however make sure in your personal statement you talk about your internship because that WILL help you out, because it seems like you do not have a whole lot of activities besides that! Make sure your PS is great! Will you finish your IGETC/PRE-REQS at the end of Spring 2013? Let me know if you need help or have any questions! :relaxed:

-KC<3

@Slapusillydawg: No problem! I know you will get in to one for sure! Let me know if you have any more questions! :relaxed:

-KC<3

@Rickyseg: No problem Rickyseg! What did they say? They won’t look at your high school transcript only to verify that you graduated from a high school in the U.S. and this won’t be until after you get accepted! :relaxed: Ahh, that makes sense! Yeah, it’s unfortunate that the TAG agreements have strict policies! Sorry about that. &nd keep me updated! :relaxed:

-KC<3**

applying: Berkeley, UCSD (Tagged there)

Major: Business Economics
First choice: UCLA
Other schools I am applying to: UCB (Haas for business major), UCI, UCD, and UCSD (approved tag for econ)

GPA (weighted): 3.9 The only B I got was for a history course I took while still in high school. Unfortunately I still have to report it :frowning:
But I will have a 3.93 by the end of this semester.
EC: I do not have any recent ones (within the past year and a half).
Work: Work to support myself full-time (pharmacy clerk).
IGETC completed
Pre-reqs for UCLA will be completed by Spring

I think the ec part really takes away from my chances.
Thanks in advance for chancing me :)

Oh sorry I didn’t clarify, When I said the only 2 classes I didn’t ace I took during high school that is while I took my high school classes (4 aps 2 reg classes and sports) I went at night and took a class, then one of the 2 non A’s was the summer between graduation and now.

Chance me too, please!

Current school: UCSC
Applying to: UCD, UCSD
Major: Physics (will change to EE after I transfer haha!)

GPA: 3.7 (may drop to around a 3.5ish, but I’m working my ass off right now to get all my Bs up to As).
Prereqs: All completed, but 2 (one math and one programming course).
IGETC/GEs: Not completed

Also, the UCs will only have 2 quarters of classes to judge me. I’m a freshman right now but with all my APs and summer classes, I will be hitting 108 (quarter) units by the end of this Spring.

How do you guys think I’ll do?

Hey could you please chance me?!

I’m actually on the border-line on applying or not… The reason being is because transferring just sparked up on me and for that reason I did not start my UC essays. I don’t want to waste my time working hours on them because of my criteria…

I am a sophomore at SJSU right now (CSU) and know that CSU to UC transfers get low priority… Which is the biggest reason why I’m borderline

My GPA is great (4.00) and I meet almost all the pre-reqs (Missing just one)
However, my extra-curriculars are weak because I wasn’t really involved in school. I’m only in one club and only worked one summer as a tutor.

Any help/advice/facts is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

applying to Cal & UCLA -WANT UCLA!!!
2 year transfer
Major: Civil Engineering
GPA: 3.92 (one B in a class taken in high school that doesnt even count for credit -.- but is transferable)
Pre-Reqs: All finished with an addition of a few extra engineering courses the school does not articulate.
EC’s: participated in an Greener Earth project (talked about it in personal statement). other than that, none
Work: Worked for one year as a bookkepper and cashier
Volunteer Work: B&GClub for a short period, CircK
personal statement: it sounds okay… still in progress !
TAG Submitted & Approved (does this lower your chances at other non-tag schools like berkeley and ucla? )

thanks guys!! very nervous because the average gpa admits are very high…
i’ve also noticed that not many engineering majors post on these forums…

@bhargav21: I’ll be honest with you about this and say that CSU to UC transfers have almost no chance of making it. The problem isn’t with your GPA/prereqs (and ECs don’t even count that much for transfers unless you’re applying to Cal). It’s with our budget crisis. TAG applicants get the first pick when it comes to getting in, then it’s the “regular” CCC applicants, then the UC-UC transfers, and finally the OOS/CSU/other 4year private transfers. I’ve only heard of 1 or 2 CSU transfers making it all of last year. By all means, go ahead and apply if money and time aren’t an issue, but don’t get your hopes up too high of transferring out. :/

bhargav, what ucs are you planning to apply to?

Sorry. The UCs that I am applying to are UCLA and UCB for Computer Science/Engineering. I might apply to UCSD as well but prefer LA/Berkeley

Haha, it sure is kind of you to give back to the community like this! Here are my statistics:

UC to UC transfer!

GPA: Expecting 3.1 by the end of Fall Quarter
Major GPA: Expecting 3.5 by the end of Fall Quarter
GEs Completed: Almost all.
Prereqs Done: Hopefully finished by Winter (definitely by Spring)
Major: Pre-business (toward SoBA- School of Business Administration)
Transferring from: UC Riverside
Applying to: UC Irvine - Business Administration (or second choice of business econ)
ECs: Internship at UC Davis’ Radiation Oncology lab. Part time job at a start up company called “Forked” in LA. Internship for Gilead in the resource management department several years back. President of hometown’s longboard & skate association & sponsored rider. Couple hundred hours of volunteer work at a elementary school program. Several hundred hours giving guitar lessons for local/school guitar club (I didn’t plan to put this one on my application - seeing as I don’t really have paper work I can show for it - but if you think I should, please say so!)
Number of units completed: 65 Quarter Units

Also, I’m confident in my essays. In the first essay I discussed my major and tied in my work experience. In the second I used my experience leading the longboard community and my own self-discovery, etc etc.

Thank you in advance for helping me quell my anxieties!

Someone please chance me!
Applying from: CCC
Applying to: UCLA, UCI

Major Prereqs: Done
IGETC: Done
TAP: Yes
TAG: No
ECs: Part-time job, weekly volunteer job at Lanterman Developmental Center, Honors program (yeah I don’t have many ECs :/)

I’m just scared that my GPA isn’t good enough for Psych but hopefully TAP will help me get in?

oh actually I just thought of one ec I have…I went to Ecuador twice in the past two years to deliver prostethic hands to people that have lost their hands to land mines in Colombia. Also, I plan to intern for morgan stanley in the summer…can I put that I plan on doing that in my essay? Or do they only care about things we have accomplished already?? Thanks so much!
