I am baffled by my schools est. financial aid award

*I have safety schools, thank God! It’s just sad that it has come down to this. Oh well… *

*So far I have been admitted into Rutgers, St. Johns, Penn State-Altoona, Manhattan College, and Fairleigh Dickinson. I am waiting to hear a response from Temple, CUNY, and Philadelphia U
*

Are you calling schools that you’ve been accepted to as “safeties”? If you don’t know if you can afford these schools, how can they be safeties?

*Class Rank: 88/680, 12%
GPA: 3.51 (I received a 4.25 first quarter, so it should be a little higher now.)

My SAT scores are whats holding me back. My M/CR/W are ALL 490…putting me at 1470 (below the national average, i know) If you are wondering how I got into AU, it’s because I was under the Test Optional pool.
My ACT score is around the same ball park when you convert it. *

You need a better strategy and you need one quickly.

1) Find out how much your parents will pay each year. If you don’t know, ask. Once you have an amount, you can better proceed.

2) Identify schools that you know you can afford and will accept you.

3) Apply to some instate schools that will accept you and your parents will pay all costs.

My concern is that your stats are not high enough to get into schools that are generous with aid, nor are they high enough for merit. My other concern is that your parents’ income is too high for the aid that you may need (depending on how much your parents will pay).
