I am baffled by the mail my 11th grader is receiving from colleges

^^
noIdeaDad- My D did very well on all of these tests and received little mail/ few emails. No idea why, but it ultimately doesn’t matter in admissions.

Don’t take these mailings too personally, whether you’re getting them or not getting them. Keep in mind that specific kids are not individually chosen to receive them. It’s mass marketing. Just like those credit card offers we receive, the colleges have purchased a mailing list from someone, probably filtered in some way (my D and her fellow IB students at her school all got most of the same mailings).

From the colleges’ point of view, this type of advertising campaign has the added bonus of producing more applicants, which drives down their acceptance rate, which boosts their ranking.

She might have accidentally transposed a few numbers on her address, or it could have been an oversight by the mass-mailers.

^
I suspect maybe the latter, because she did receive some mail, just not that much. MIT referenced her strong math scores (they were), so it seems as if she would have gotten more.
