I'm a junior in high school and I really have no idea what kind of colleges I should be looking at.
GPA 4.0nw ?w
SAT- Haven't taken it but I'm guessing about a 1300 (not very good at tests like that...I'm taking it in January)
ACT-28 I took it a year ago for a summer program
Class Rank- 8 out of 300 at a good school in GA's best school system
PSAT- last year 178 (63 cr 61 math 54 writing ..told you not a good test taker) haven't gotten this years scores yet
AP tests- two 5's world history and human georgraphy
I'll have 9 AP's altogether....12 honors/gifted
EC- NHS, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Mock Trial, Debate Team, Student Class VP (Hopefully President next year), ALL-State Chorus 3 years in a row, Honors Chorus, UGA Music Program, GHP (Governors Honors Program) Vocal Major, TRI-M music honors society, Lawrenceville Coop Ministry Volunteer, lots of other volunteer work, German Honors Society, Track and Field Pole Vaulter, Math Team, Participant in the Ole Miss Summer College program
Black male
I know my standardized test scores are low but everything else is ok.....Also I'd like to stay near the east cost in the mid-atlantic or south....I've been looking at colleges as good as Georgetown and Swat and some like Berry and Georgia State...HELP!!

Doesn't sound like you are any more lost than you should be at this stage of the game. You have (and should have) a list of schools with varied selectivity and are building a solid academic record. Your standardized test scores will likely come up and for URMs, particularly black males, they are often given less weight, particularly in light of your tough schedule and AP scores to date.

I'd try to make some decisions about how big a school you want, how diverse it should be, and geographical location. You might think a bit about the majors and careers you'd be interested in. Keep a list of varied selectivity until you have new test scores and your year-end grades.

In the meantime, hang out here and keep looking through the college guides. Wouldn't hurt to check out a book on college admission essays either. Lots of those tips will help you with your high school writing, too.

believe me you are not the only one. i am a junior too. something will pop up. this is corny but fate works in strange ways.

i got interested in cornell thru a viewbook. how superfical of me. >.<

i am now looking into languistic b/c my english teacher suggested it.

btw, i envy you. you sound like you will be one of those people with wonderful stats, therefore tough competition. =D i can't really judge but your ec's is so overwhelming that it is kinda turning into a "laundry" list. maybe u just didn't include all the details.

anyway, maybe we will bump paths someday. good luck to your junior year cuz i am sure i will need it with all those icky tests.
