i know u guys get this question WAY too many times, but i CANT help myself from askin this... would a 70 or 75 in an AP physics class cause vandy to reconsider my application? i have no other schools, not even stonybrook since i did early. My other classes are like in the A and Bs range, pretty avg grades, senioritis is truly screwing me over, can't forth myself to sit and study. plz be as honest as u possibly can. : /

I'm assuming this is a C without the extra points school usually give for advanced level classes? If that's the case, you shouldn't be TOO worried. I would recommend doing everything you can to pull it up to a C+ UW. Colleges don't like seeing C's regardless of whether it's your senior year or not. You've worked hard for almost four years - why jeopardize that with a month left of school?

youshould be fine, i dont know what vanderbilt does but one of my friends who got into dartmouth was told "as long as you dont get a D you're fine." i would imagine vanderbilt is similar

thank you two for replying, do you recommend me callin admission office and ask them the requirements needed to be met to avoid rescinding or probation?

no, because then they will probably ask you to explain your situation and you don't want to do that. I really do think you should be fine as long as you don't get a D

i read the last note a few hours too late. i did call the admission officer, and after they asked for my name, i realized it may have been a huge mistake... do u think my situation was worsened? would they pull out my application and review it a bit harsher? ooo man, wut do i do now... lol... maybe i should just lay back and do abs. nothing.

Sitting back and doing absolutely nothing is probably the worst thing you can do!! If you're really worried about it, try to bring up that grade if you can, or try bringing up all of your other grades. Senioritis is not an excuse if you really want something. You could also start doing something new extracurricularly, to use up your time so you don't have any to sit around and be senioritisy, and plus if they question your grades, you can talk about everything you've been doing since they processed your app.

I got in ED1 and at that time had never gotten a C as a final average but I just put up 2 C+'s and a regular C in the 3rd marking period. Should I start to get worried? Does Vandy publish stats on how many admissions they rescind?

yea. im in the same boat. im really close to losing my 4.0 in my last month of high school and although not being valedictorian would suck, its really vanderbilt and my scholarship that im worried about. please any advice!!

just make sure u dont fail any classes... vanderbilt does not rescind very many acceptances, at all. I have a friend that got 2 C's her senior year after being admitted to Vanderbilt and she had no problem. Just don't make it an issue where your high school goes to contact Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt will probably never know.

i don't know if that information applies to scholarships, but id assuem its the same case. HOWEVER, once you get here, u gotta keep your grades up to keep the scholarships.

Wow guys, that is a lot of dropped grades. I'm a little surprised after reading some of our posts that so many people are making so many C's the last few weeks of school! I don't think you'll be rescended, like the above poster said, but I wouldn't chance it and make a D. At the very least, you'll be sent a letter asking you to explain why you had such a grade decline after doing so well for four years. I would stick it out... it's almost over. I want out of here as much as the rest of you (today is my last day), but I managed to keep my grade all decent A's, so if I can do it I know the rest of you can too :P

VandyHopeful, you are kidding, I assume. This IS senior year, final semester and you're talking about many hundreds of busy folks, some of whom have thoughts other than AP physics or IB philosphy on their minds. Hey don't sweat this. Just get no dogs or franks and you'll be fine. The admissions boys and girls are fast moving on from your class to round 2. You made the gentlemenly C's, and now you just need to sweat a little bit more. But don't too much. And learn the lesson. T'ain't over till th fat lady sings.

I highly doubt they will say anything to you about it. Wouldn't worry.
