My transcript has already been sent out to all of my colleges, and it is WRONG! I didn't get a copy until today, and it went out well over 3 weeks ago. I'm applying to top colleges too, so I am really panicking! They wrote a C+ instead of a B, put me in "slow" classes instead of AP, gave me 5 credits for a 7 credit course, and a whole bunch of other stuff! That affects my class rank and everything! I'm calling the colleges first thing tomorrow as well as the guidance counselor and telling him to go himself, but what will the colleges do? Surely they have already started reviewing my file! HOW MUCH WILL THIS HURT ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?????????

If you call right away and get a corrected transcript over ASAP, I'm sure it'll be fine. This REALLY sucks, but at least you caught it now, instead of in April when decisions are already made.

"the guidance counselor and telling him to go himself,"

HAHAH that comment was hilarious

^uh, not really...

Good luck. My school does not even allow us to see what is on our transcripts.

Same thing with me, my transcript is very messed up. My GPA and class rank is very messed up even though it shows the grades and stuff on it.

My school won't be able to update GPA and Rank for another 2-3 weeks...

Don't worry, admission officers who have a large number of applicants (large and/or competitive schools) have not begun looking at applications.

If you call colleges tomorrow they will hold your file until the correct transcript comes in. It will be okay :)

that is really unfortunate but yes, like others have said, i don't think it will be a big deal as long as you call the colleges and correct the error. these kinds of things happen, they know it's not your fault, college admissions people aren't mean or unaccomodating, they wouldn't want to turn down an interested and bright applicant.

Notice: i said the comment was hilarious not the situation...

Just get a bus route. Save $$$, become a guidance counselor, and see how hard it is to prepare these applications for colleges that I know my students won't get into. Just Kidding, u still have time

So, your transcript is screwed up. I'm wondering how it is that you're noticing this. Haven't you been reviewing your transcript each year? Wouldn't those errors also have shown up on your report cards?

As for your idea of storming into the GC's office and cursing him out: Normally, I would think that the kind of transcript errors that you describe were an accident. In your case, if you have a history of handling problems by becoming angry and insulting, I'm wondering if someone deliberately messed up your transcript.

Meanwhile, the top colleges have not made their decisions yet. There's plenty of time to get corrected transcripts sent. Just call and e-mail the colleges, and let them know that there are mistakes on your current transcript, and your h.s. will be sending a revised one. Make sure that when you do this, you do it with grace, not indicating that people at your h.s. are all idiots.

If you handle this in a thoughtful, deliberate way, it could actually turn out to be a plus. You can show grace and maturity under pressure and it gives you an opportunity for another point of contact with the adcom, where you could update them on any new achievements or ask questions that you have in a way that seems natural and not contrived. As others have said, top colleges are just starting to read applications, a process that will continue for the next couple of months.

at my school no one sees their transcripts ever.

^ Same here. The first time I ever saw my transcript was when my GC asked me to double-check the application she was sending out.
