I had my transcripts sent in on Tuesday, Nov 4th and Pitt has still not received them. I am afraid it is becoming too late and I will not be accepted.
I have a 3.82 GPA (my school does not weigh classes), take all honors and college courses, and got a 27 on ACT (still waiting on October scores)
I sent in an essay and letters of recommendation,
Is all hope lost? I really want to get in, desperately almost.
Someone please calm my mind! hahah.

Hope is not lost! Just call the school. I had some problems with my transcripts and such when I applied. I just called the school and they were really nice about it.

Thank you for replying!
haha.
I'll give the school a call tomorrow :) I just hope they get them soon because I am afraid the school has filled up. hah.

you'll be fine. i think you're in

I just got my new ACT scores back today...if I do get into to Pitt can I get any kind of scholarship with a 29 ACT?

I sent my transcript a week before you did and mypitt finally said they received it just today. It might just take them a while to process it. I was ready to go to my guidance counselor tomorrow if they didn't receive it today. But yeah, hope is definitely not lost haha

i don't think a 29 will get you a scholarship, but i think you'll definitely be accepted now. check your mypitt account to see if they got your stuff, or call the admissions office.

I just checked again a few minutes ago and they have received my transcripts.
I feel so much better!
Thanks everyone :)

and I was hoping for at least a $1000 scholarship...a 29 is pretty good if you ask me! haha.
Oh well!

Yes, you will definitely be admitted. For the 29 ACT, if you qualify for the diversity scholarships then chances are very good for a full scholarship especially if you have a high gpa and AP/Honor classes.

Sadly I do not think I would be eligible for the diversity scholarships...I am assume those are just for race?

I go to a Catholic school which doesn't offer AP classes but I have taken all the possible honor classes my school offers (including four years of Spanish). I take precalc/calc and at local college and psych at a local university. I live in a small town in WV and my dad died in January from leukemia/lymphoma (which is what I wrote my essay on).

Since my dad's death in January, my family's income has been dramatically reduced so I hope FASFA will help.
Pitt is my second choice school, but I really think Northwestern is out of the picture. haha.

You don't want to go to West Virginia Unviersity? I know it offers lots of scholarship money too! I am surrounded by West Virginia graduates where I work. With your reduced income, I wouldn't be surprised if you get substantial financial aid and you never know what a school will offer until they send it to you!

Yeah, I can go to WVU for free if I want to but I want to major in film and WVU doesn't offer it, in fact no school in West Virginia offers film studies.
I do not think I would go to WVU even if they had film though, it just definitely isn't the type of school for me. I want to get out WV and all of the same people I have gone to school with since Kindergarden (almost everyone in my senior class is going to WVU). I want to go to school in an urban setting and I only live an hour away from Pittsburgh so I know the city quite well. Pitt just seems like the perfect fit for me.

29 is a great score! sounds like you'll qualify for some financial aid too. and i think the lowest scholarship offer is 2k per year. so i guess you might qualify for that, but i'm not really sure. good luck!

I'm a Pitt freshman who went through the process last year. I had AP credits and a 29 on the ACT. I didn't receive any money for that score, though, I think our income bracket might have disqualified me from that.

I walked by the admissions processing room in Alumni Hall today (where the admissions mail goes) and it looked pretty busy--remember that this is the peak time!
