I have been preparing for the Sat for a while, not too long but not too short either. Recently I am focusing on doing critical reading which is my weakest section. But I am getting frustrated because I started to get more wrong than I used to do. My mistakes mainly come from passages readings. I have tried to use the tips given by some CCers, like bracketing the reference lines, but this does not work out for me well. I have noticed that I used to practice with sat online course in which I read the individual paragraphs and jumped to the questions without highlighting of the reference lines.

This happened to me also, but with practice, it should help you.
It took me about 10 practice tests for me to adjust as well,
Usually, I don’t use the method on fictions (novel passage, anecdote) because some questions are needed to refer back to other parts of the passage.
But really, more practice for better consistency!

I tried bracketing and it didnt work out for me, i ended up getting more confused than i did in making sense to myself

I started reading the entire passages (in about 45 secs to a min) slowly, but just at the right pace (like slow to take info in, but fast to finish quickly) and then answered the questions that said “in line 11…” because id be able to go back and understand the passage in a bit more detail. After all those were done, and the only ones left were “the primary purpose …etc” , id look at the choices and narrow it down. By now, you should have a good understanding of the passage since you read once, and then looked at the line questions. Sometimes, the story is just so off (i had 2 passages in test 10, 2nd edition BB, which i did terrible on because the story was difficult for me to comprehend).

On my June SAT, i scored a 550 on CR. I started prepping in the beginning of september and my CR score is at a 600-610. Im not studying a lot of vocab, just the ones I get wrong the practice tests. Re-read all your missed questions and take time to understand fully as to why theyre incorrect.

I’ve done 3 practice tests so far:

1st: 580 CR
2nd: 600 CR
3rd: (it was a range, but the middle of the range was a 610)

The beauty of bracketing is it saves a bunch of time, thats if your having issues with time

My main issue is that I have tons of hw for my Ap classes and I work after school as well. It is just so hard for me to squeeze time out for Sat prep. I am getting stressed out. I am decent with writing and math thou, if not superb.
