I am going to appeal

Without things like changed grades. I'm going to expand on the "conclusion" of my 2nd personal statement, since that ended with a sort of cliffhanger (not really, but the story has continued since then). What I've been doing as a leader of the organization that I talked about at the end of essay has been very new and very compelling.

I'll post my results here. Wish me luck, I need to get into UCLA so I can stay in LA for cheap.

i’ll rub buddha’s tummy for you. hopefully that will help.

Good luck! :)

I feel so desperate doing this :(

It really has a low chance of working and my only other option in LA, LMU, is way too expensive for my family. I probably won’t get into USC either, only got into NYU and I can’t both afford to move out or the tuition for NYU.

sigh There is always community, SMC is #1 in transfers to UCLA

Didn’t apply anywhere else?

I did, but like NYU and LMU I can’t afford to move out and for some I just do not want to go (Davis and SB).

it’s only #1 because it’s a local school.

heh true

…

I just think it’s stupid why people say that. Maybe the same could be said about a particular school in the Bay Area with regards to Berkeley. The truth is that a lot of people transfer to their local university for convenience like in your case. People from outside of SoCal hear about the high transfer rate to UCLA and decide to move under false pretense that SMC has some sort of exclusive agreement with UCLA.

Of course SMC has a high transfer rate. LA has a large population. Locals want to stay local and outsiders moved just so they have a “better” chance of transferring. Also, SMC is probably a much better school than most of the other local CCs like East Los Angeles College or LA Trade Tech.

Pasadena City College is really good as well.

Though the changes of an acceptance without changed grades is incredibly slim, I encourage you to still try… and I applaud you for doing so. You NEVER know what will happen unless you try. So, don’t let people get you down. Just do what you gotta do and best of luck! :)

I have finished my letter of appeal. Would anyone (especially someone for whom this actually work) like to look it over? I have all but the concluding sentences finished, but its 4am and I want to go to bed. Thank you!

Some CC’s can increase your chances of getting into UCLA, but they’re all over the state. You’re right, moving to LA is unnecessary, but going to a TAP college will make transferring to UCLA easier.

[Transfer Alliance Program - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_tr/ADM_CCO/tap.htm)

^ You should put some sort of note regarding TAP. IT’S ONLY FOR THE COLLEGE OF LETTERS AND SCIENCE.

The majority of UCLA students go to the College of Letters and Science. You’re right, I should have mentioned that UCLA’s other schools are not part of the program.

I hope the decision comes before next friday…
