WOOOT WOOOT
I was 105/787, 32 act, 1390 reading+ math sat.... fdsalkjflskda

Lol omg you bastard, very nice, huge congratuliations, lol im applying to engineering too, my stats arent as nice as yours though GPA wise =) t.t very nice still, maybe there is hope for me yet!!! Just wondering, did you take the SAT II MATH II? or AP Exam Calc AB/BC? for your math readiness, j/w =D once again HUGE congratulations man thats fricking awsome

foxshot:

I'm watching Heroes on TV. They may be able to stop bullets, read minds and fly- but YOU- are MY HERO! Your superpower? You cracked the top 10% wall.
Be the best damn engineer in the world. Congratulations.

Congrats :]

This encourages me, our stats are pretty close.

Yeah I did AP Calc AB- 3. My gpa is 4.32 for anyone who wants to compare or anything

Thanks for all the congrats. I just went nuts at the gym.. this dude tried to spot me, and I told him to go away because he was slowing me down. Nothing could give me this much adrenaline ever again.. I feel like I'm on feel good crack.

Congratulations!

Now my OCD is out of control. I've logged into Status Check like 50 times since I read your post. No pill until the morning.

congratulations! some of my friends will be happy to hear this.

Major Congratulations!! Now, the waiting begins for those not in top 10%. I know that many of my son's friends are in that boat, don't know their stats, but I doubt they are as stellar as yours. Anyway, they will be happy to hear that they are starting to admit outside of the top 10%.

Obviously the class isn't full of only 10%ers I hope there's still alot of room left! :)

Congratulations, that is pretty amazing.

When did you apply? and How long have you waited?

Applied on December 29th.. and I might have been accepted like a week ago, but that was the first time I have checked in nearly a month.

I have friends who applied way before, and still nothing. So I doubt it has anything to do with application submission time.

I also got in last year and I wasn't in the top 10% and heard back fairly quickly.. I was top 11% though, but not sure if that even matters.

This should give you all even more hope. My kid had 1050 reading + math - top 20% of class. Amazing essays, EC's and recommendations tho.. Got into a non-science/non-business major. We were shocked and amazed...It was just posted on their admissions site yesterday.

Congrats luckytxmom!! I will pass that on to my son, he has a number of friends who are all anxiously waiting!!

Wow 1050... he must of have had some amazing ECs.. thats almost unheard of.

wow, luckytxmom tell your son he is my hero lol. That gives me a lot of hope. Thanks for posting that haha.

I know it's pretty suprising... I started to search UT's site to figure out how it happened! I came across this article on how UT plots an Academic Achievement index against a Personal Achievement Index (which includes scores on the two essays) to determine admissions. I am really suprised that a school of 50,000 students can take this kind of time and care with each application. It certainly raised my estimation of the school to find this out. check it out:

^ Yeah I found that too a couple of months ago. Very interesting.

EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS FOR HOPEFULS! A friend of mine today just got in. She is top 30% and she only had 2 ECS - one was dance team the other was NHS.

UT seems to be more random than ever in admissions. This is starting to drive me nuts!
